Chris Durkin (18) vs. Toronto FC:

90 Minutes Played
86% Passing Accuracy
5 Duels Won
2 Ball Recoveries
100% Tackle Completion Rate
100% Dribble Completion Rate

Durkin combined well with Canouse to help anchor the DC midfield tonight. Composed performance. LINK

If you're keeping count at home, that's now 2 goals by 16 year old Americans in MLS this season.

Durkin is probably one of the kids that impressed me the most from that under 17 WC, so i've tried to keep an eye on him. He always seemed composed and calm under pressure, and made smart passes to relieve said pressure. I haven't been able to watch him at all with DC this year, but i'm glad to hear he's still getting minutes and progressing.

Was thinking about Keaton Parks, and how I haven't heard anything about him in a while. Anyone have info on him?

The phase in which he plays completely in the U23 and is always there firmly, is over for him soon

That's a good sign right? That can be taken a couple of different ways.

Yes. It means he'll soon start splitting time with the first team and the U23s.

He’s playing in a friendly on Tuesday so he won’t be on the roster this weekend. I expect him to be on the bench the game or two after that though.

Also asked @ReggieCannon15 about vets like Bradley, Guzan. "I know everyone wants to see young guys. But they don't understand. We need guys like that. Michael gives us confidence that we can play at that level w/ his leadership. And someone like Brad behind us gives me comfort."

Shhhhh he's a bad influence and the single reason why we didn't qualify for the WC.

I definitely think we need to bring in a couple vets with all the young players. They need guys to show them the ropes a little bit.

It's amazing that there are some on this board who see this as a radical idea. You need experience to show the new kids the ropes. The new breed will take the place of the old soon enough but it's good to have mentors.

I think some people are still too emotional to think about it rationally/logically.

Same thing with outrage over not having a manager yet or with the idea of waiting this long and still hiring a guy from MLS.

Yep we have... Brooks, Yedlin, Green even Guzan are fine to "show them the ropes". Bradley no longer has the legs to go 90 at International level. Altidore maybe but he has to have ankle surgery check back after that is complete and compare progress with Sargent and Wood and anybody else to see if their is still a need at that position.

Xuxuh Hilton trialing with the PSV Eindhoven U19s, where he’d be coached by Ruud van Nistelrooy. (HT @RoyWolterx who’s a good follow in the Netherlands) LINK
