Would Landon Donovan have been a help to this team in the first 3 matches?

would he have helped? probably. Would he have changed any results? probably not. maybe portugal.

I think he would have helped but it's difficult to determine how much.
Ghana game- sub him for injured Jozy. When Altidore went down it was clear Ghana did not respect us as a scoring threat. We were run up and down the field and couldn't keep possession. It would have been nice to have an experienced player to help get our shite back together.
Portugal game- we played from behind most of the way so a prolific scorer would have been handy. Jones had a laser and the Dempsey tap in were goid enough for a result. It would also have been nice to have his experience out there when trying to kill that 5 minutes of stoppage time. Result of the game probally doesn't change.
Germany- despite being dominated on the field it was a 1-0 score. A guy like Donovan might have pulled a goal out of his arse to steal a point. In 3 games with him playing I think he would have scored at least 1 goal. I hate that he got left off this team but im sure Jurgy knows what he's doing.

I actually think that if we'd have had him instead of Wondolowski as the sub for the Portugal game, he'd have had a better chance of holding the ball up in the corner and/or drawing a foul instead of passing it back into the middle of the field towards Bradley. What ifs, though.
