I know mock-ups of a re-branded Los Angeles FC have popped up on the internet, but I'd prefer if Chivas just re-located to San Antonio.

Yeah, because MLS really wants to move a moribund team to a city without a stadium and established fan base.
You can bring up this shitty argument again when Austin actually has an ownership group, stadium plan and a funding agreement with the City of Austin.

Well Roma's owners are working with the city on the stadium plan so I guess I'll bump this thread in a few months
Austin is ready for real pro sports and my bet is that MLS is going to be first

Right now Austin is probably behind Minneapolis, San Antonio, and Sacramento in terms of MLS readiness. Las Vegas is probably at about the same stage as Austin in terms of gathering investors. Las Vegas is probably ahead because they've even drawn up stadium designs.
All of these cities have successful lower league teams, established fan bases. For San Antonio, most importantly, they have an expandable soccer-specific stadium.

We have an ownership group, a stadium plan is coming along and a "previous relationship" is worthless when you consider how bad Miami sports fans are and the league already FAILED there once
I know you don't want Austin to get a team because you're supporting San Antonio. Maybe at the end of the day San Antonio will end up getting that 3rd Texas team, maybe not. But to pretend that Austin is "so far behind" is just ignorant.

The study and stadium plans are being developed in conjunction as we speak. If you don't think what Austin has to offer, combined with the backing of the Roma owners then I don't know what to tell you. You're obviously threatened by it or you wouldn't have picked an e-fight.

I totally agree with you that Austin is perhaps the mot financially viable market for professional sports in America. However, it still has massive holes to fill for a bid for an MLS team.

I think it's pretty much a consensus that Minneapolis and San Antonio are next up for MLS expansion.

Yup and both have stadiums ready to go. San Antonio already has a SSS while Minn can play at the University football stadium until its built or they play in the Vikings new get up.
Having a team in Austin is going to have to wait a while esp with its proximity to San Antonio.
This isn't like NE,NYC,DC and Philly all being close to each other b/c they are major cities. Or the potential of LA with a SD team.
