Will USMNT break into top 16...

With two more wins before new fifa rankings come out on the 8th. I've been doing the little calculator on fifa site but still don't know exactly how it works if we win the two games ?

I wouldn't put too much stake in those rankings. They are essentially bullshite

With the World Cup draw coming up in December, FIFA rankings – bullshite or not – are huge right now.
As for the OP, didn't Grant Wahl say that if we win the Gold Cup we would move up to 16? I believe we were 15 for the 2010 WC draw.

I doubt it, but I really have no idea how the rankings work. I'm just going off of what Grant Wahl said on Sunday.
Maybe if we win the Gold Cup and then win out in WCQ.

Possibly not as much as you think... at least for us. The US was ranked 5th going into the 2006 WC (
), but we weren't seeded (top 8 teams) while Mexico was.

Rankings were inserted in the seeding formula starting in 2010.

Keep in mind that as long as Brazil stays out of the top 8, we need to be top 7 to be seeded.
