Why don't we call Copa America, "America Cup"

We are in the real America. This is an English speaking country. Doesn't really bother me, just wondering why they don't translate it.

Because it is not our tournament. People don't call the super bowl Lovabo Grande do they? They call it the Super Bowl.

Because it is the tournament of the South American (key word there) confederation. It's not our tournament. It's only being held here because it is a commemorative tournament.

Sweet, if anglicizing stuff is the new trend, I cant wait to book my ticket to Saint James the Greater, California. But Anchorman fans will have to find a new place to refer to as "A Whales Vagina." Sorry Ron Burgundy.

The name Santiago is a Spanish corruption of San Diego, St. James. His feast day is July 25th.
