Why do the players on the bench have to wear vests?

I would guess to avoid confusion on the sidelines. Although it's not a problem in any other sport so I do why it would be in Soccer

They warm up right outside the lines, jogging and stretching and what not. They can easily be mistaken as players on the field.

Players are almost constantly running up and down the sidelines warming up. It would cause all sorts of confusion. Keep in mind you can't always see the physical lines on the field depending on where you are on the field.

Other sports get unlimited substitutions.

Makes sense although pretty sure guys who come off, and won't be warming up in the sideline are required to put them on.

They're still right there. Most times guys are making passes just based on seeing a color out of the corner of their eye for a split second.

Yea, you can say the same things about football though and they don't have a problem

you also dont ahve a sub limit in football. so as long as a player isnt hopping on the field in the middle of a play it's no big deal.

You need to just blindly accept whatever reason they give you and not question it.

Not really sad. Amused at the pretty silly reasons that are given.
