Our subs are Wondo, Castillo, Orozco, Beckerman, Pulisic, Kitchen, and Birnbaum. Yikes.

Watching Klinsi, I could see Beckermann start, with Besler replacing him late, Pulisic for Zusi late, and Wondo for Deuce very late.

i think we'd be playing defensive against argentina regardless

we may luck out on a gaol on a set piece or counter. if we start offense-heavy and don't score, we're frickED when we need to sub. bunker and pray we keep it tight (or get a lucky goal) and then try to win it late

i could see us using a looney toons formation with fabs at LB, yeds at RB, and cameron in a DM role with bradley. zudi/zardes wide, and wondo/dempsey up top

i'd rather the besler LB yeds RB and fabs LM though. keep the CBs together

Wondo won't play in that game, unless it's tied in the 112th minute and we have a sub stil left. So in other words, Wondo won't play.

The more I think about it, the more I want Besler to stay at LB and have a center midfield of Bradley and Nagbe, with Johnson and Zardes playing on the wings, with Dempsey up top. Last spot in the midfield goes to Beckerman or Zusi, depending on what we want to do. I would use Zusi but think Klinsman will select Beckerman.

Pulisic will definitely play as he is the only usable guy on the bench besides whoever between Zusi and Beckerman doesn't start.

I agree and if I was in charge, I would probably do the same thing, actually. I'd give Nagbe the start though and think Klinsman will too.

Gun to my head, I expect him to do a central midfield of Bradley, Dreads, and Nagbe and use Zusi and Pulisic off the bench.

I am glad Jurgen is finally trusting his vets. It would have been nice if he did that a few years ago.

What I think Jurgen will do:
Guzan
Yedlin Cameron Brooks Besler
Zusi Bradley Beckerman Johnson
Zardes Dempsey

What I want him to do:
Guzan
Yedlin Cameron Brooks Besler
Pulisic Nagbe Bradley Johnson
Zardes Dempsey

That is WAAAAY too open for Argentina.

I'd like to get Nagbe in but with Dempsey in need of a forward to make runs behind I don't see a place for him unless he is on the wing, and JK will go for Zusi before.

Nagbe and Pulisic are not bad subs to have if we need a goal though.

Maybe so, but we're short on options. I had another idea as I was walking into work, but I forgot it in the last few minutes.

Keep in mind that the match will go straight to penalties, if tied at full time. It would behoove Klinsmann to start a true defensive mid in place of Jones. I would rather keep Bradley in the same role, where he's excelled this tournament.

Are you saying start Beckerman And instruct him to play with the freedom Jones has to forward, while keeping Bradley more defensive?

I think he's going to start Nagbe on the belief that we can't just hope to repel Argentina for 90 minutes.

The way I see it, what's the point of playing if you are just going to try and defend the whole time? How I'd that helping the program? Put an attacking minded side out there and see what they can do. If the lose, they lose. We aren't going to be expected to beat Argentina anyway.

It's 90 minutes against Argentina in the copa America semi with 3 players out due to cards. We don't really need to "help the program". Tournament has been a success and things went about as well as possible. It's all about a result now.

Jurgen says we need to start taking the game to better teams, well here's a good chance to at least try.
