Did you understand that definition? The NFL is correct. Because it's "The...League" It is NOT "The...Soccer". I wouldnt bitch about it to a casual fan or anything. but you're on a soccer board and this is a pet peeve.

The top MLS clubs would respectably compete in Serie A, Premier League, etc. Seattle isn't at the level of Barca or Chelsea but would probably finish somewhere in the middle of the Premiership - not real contenders but not relegated either. That said, Stoke would do well in MLS.

I don't mean to nitpick, but it's very simple.
NFL stands for "National Football League." You would use a definite article in front of it, as in:
"The National Football League is very competitive."
Hence, "The NFL"
MLS stands for "Major League Soccer."
You would not say,
"The Major League Soccer is very competitive."
Hence, no definite article in front of "MLS."

That makes sense ... but depending on the context I use an article in front:
"MLS viewership has been expanding at a rapid rate over the last 10 years."
"The MLS has really begun to reach world markets."
It don't matter to me, but as an Arsenal fan I have to save my anxiety and stress for the season lol
