Who is our best right midfielder when it comes to helping on defense? Zusi, Bedoya?

Probably Donovan, still.

Of the two, Zusi is probably the better defender, but Bedoya is faster.

RB or CB.

Jones' importance to our team continues to be wildly underrated by this board.

Or maybe it's vastly overstated by a minority on this board. I've yet to hear a convincing argument for how jones and Bradley is a better partnership than Bradley and beckerman. B and J forces Bradley to stay deep bc he knows jones just refuses to do so, even though Bradley is much better than jones in attacking positions

I don't think this is the case.

You're making assumptions based on what you feel is best for the team. I promise you, it's much more likely that they're playing their roles exactly as they've been assigned by Jurgen and his staff.

Jones and Bradley will start. We can argue over the merits of pairing him with Beckerman, who I'm a big fan of, or Cameron, but in the end it's a pointless exercise.

Like Jurgen is idly sitting there on the sideline thinking to himself, "why won't Jermaine play as a pure DM?"

What a moronic statement to make. You do realize this is a message board, right?

At some point, though, the "playing Jones with Bradley doesn't allow Bradley to go forward enough" point has been made enough times.

Do we really, every time midfielders or defenders are discussed, have to hear the same things about how Jones is trash, Bradley is a blend of Pirlo and Maradona, we have zero offense unless Bradley provides it, etc etc?

Ream, you mean that guy playing in the Championship (ie better than MLS) who just got Bolton's player of the year award? That guy who also plays LB and CB and DM and therefore fills several needs?

As awesome as you make him out to be its amazing that he hasn't played for the US in almost ever. Thats the thing about being a defender...you actually need to be able to defend. He hasn't shown he is capable and Jurgen knows it.

That being said, he will probably get another look out of pure desperation. I suppose he can't be worse than the pile of hot garbage that is Omar Gonzalez.

You're misinformed, off base, or just plain wrong.

Jurgen called him in to the Ukraine game and he probably would have started, had his first child not been born.

I don't need to make him sound awesome. He was their player of the year... as a left back.

Meh, I don't know about that considering that Jurgen had spent much more prior time with Gooch and Brooks, but he definitely would have been one of the six subs.

I view Ream as a younger, better Michael Parkhurst in that he may not be our best option at any particular position but he can play anywhere on the backline. What makes him better than Parkhurst, in my eyes at least, is that Ream is in a better league.

One callup in the last several years for Ukraine/Cyprus is not exactly inspiring of capability or an example of Jurgen's confidence, especially considering our need at the position. Not really sure why you think that bolsters your argument of Ream's greatness.

But, if he is as good as you say he is, I'm sure he will be on the plane to Brazil.

I think he is saying he is at least worth a look coming off a good season in the Championship.

I would support that...and I'm sure he will get a look.

I'm talking about present form. I'm not sure why you're throwing this "greatness" bullshite in my face, since I never used those words.

You know what counts going into the WC? Form.

You know who's got great form right now? Tim Ream.

Bingo. If he takes anyone's spot, it's Parkhurst's.
