Can anyone explain to me why the Newcastle guy is off when he got the red card in the EFL? I thought different comps had different card counts?

It’s a quirk in the rules. It was a straight red so it carries over to all domestic competitions. Had it been an accumulation of yellows he’d be playing today but out for the league cup final. As it stands he’ll play at Wembley.
I guess the FA wants to punish straight reds more so they set it up where it carries over to PL play.

Which is crazy, under Moyes they had been one the top PL scorers from set pieces before this season.
