Pointless to even try to project four years out.

at least the board got the coach right.

So much promise for some of those guys that never panned out for whatever reason.

Yeah one of those tournaments, and the olympics too I think. I always thought he would finally blossom one day and put it all together.

It's not that bad of a thread.

While impossible to tell, I like to think of the future also.

Just ignore the hate.

The soccer board has hated on every thread created so far this week if you haven't noticed.

Next time throw in frick Mexico and all will be good.

It's not a bad thread, but it really is impossible to tell. Even to tell anything about people who are presently on the team. 4 years for injury, supreme letdown in play, etc.

I mean, did anyone think that a 32 year old iker casillas would be as bad as he was this cup 4 years ago?!

Obviously it is a lot easier to name the players who will not be around in Russia than the guys who will be the new blood.

I see no way that Beasley, Dempsey, Jones, Beckerman, Wondo, Davis, or Rimando are around next time.

Howard is also unlikely since Guzan should be better by then.

And if we don't have a better central defender than Onar Gonzalez by then, that would be an indictment of the developmental system in place.

In short, we will be missing a lot in central midfield and the left side of defense. Depending on how guys like Gil pan out; we could have some very nice possession players in place of Beckerman and Jones.

I might be out of line, but I am ecstatic of the potential of JAB.

Might be a World Class centerback by the time this tournament rolls around again in four years (insert someone pump the brakes).

He was really good in the Bundesliga lately, earning POTW honors.

6-foot-4 with really good athletic ability, and has shown the big stage is not too much -- played really well outside of the goal, as well.

Just needs to mature, gain experience, learn discipline, and all that will come with time.

Pump the brakes. The US has never had a world class player. I guess you could say peak Friedel or Howard is, but that is about it.
