Let’s get real. This was a C team to see who was good enough to be on the B team.

And they beat the Mexicans lololol.

What's more American than beating the rest of the world at their own sport?

Give me your best 11 (A team), then list your next 11 (B team), and then your C team. If this truly was the guys in slots 23 and below then the US is extremely deep.

The competition for the World Cup Qualifying squad and hopefully the World Cup squad is going to be really intense for the first time in a long time.

The only thing more satisfying would've been to beat them in PKs with Matt Turner saving all of theirs.. but honestly this might be better because they probably thought they'd win in PKs, and to not even get a chance that close to going to them is devastating. Love it.

Not if we keep doing this. Lets be honest, futbol has made tremendous strides in the states. If we keep winning big and promoting the brand it will change over time.

I'll just run down through the guys that played last night.

Matt Turner: Anywhere from #1-3 GK, depending on your opinion of Steffen and Horvath.
Reggie Cannon: #2-3 RB. Behind Dest, battling with Yedlin for #2.
Shaq Moore: Going into this tournament was #6 RB behind Dest, Yedlin, Cannon, Reynolds, and Araujo.
Miles Robinson: Wasn't guaranteed to be one of our top 4 CBs, but has worked his way into the discussion. Still has to cement his place above Long, Richards, McKenzie, Zimmerman, etc.
James Sands: Honestly wasn't on the depth chart. His best position is still as the center of a back 3 or as DM.
Henry Kessler:
George Bello: Has been fighting Sam Vines for #2 LB behind Antonee Robinson.
Sam Vines: Has been fighting George Bello for #2 LB behind Antonee Robinson.
Kellyn Acosta: Currently the #2 DM behind Tyler Adams
Eryk Williamson: Pretty far down the depth chart. Behind the likes of McKennie, Musah, Lletget, Aaronson, Reyna, etc.
Sebastian Lletget: Very likely on the 2 deep as one of the 2 advanced CMs.
Christian Roldan: See Williamson.
Gianluca Busio: See Williamson. I also think a healthy Pomykal can be above these 3.
Paul Arriola: Pretty far down the list at this point. Behind Weah, Reyna, maybe Konrad, etc.
Nicholas Gioacchini: Is a striker, but played on the wing here. Is behind Sargent, Dike, Pefok, Zardes, etc.
Matthew Hoppe: Is a striker but played on the wing here. Was in the same spot as Gioacchini prior to this tournament, but made a strong case to surge up the depth chart.
Gyasi Zardes: You can argue that he's behind Sargent, Pefok, and a healthy Dike.

Caden Clark also would have been on this roster over Roldan if he didn't need an appendectomy right before we had to submit the final roster.

Was that really Mexico's first team? I don't know much about who their best 11 are.

thats not how it works. certain positions are deeper than others.

My statement doesnt suggest that this was 11 dudes who all have 2 guys ahead of them.

It was that we have a pretty strong 11. Then we have a good pool of players that can supplement those starters.

This was a tournament to see if there was any new blood that could be added to that pool of player that could help us.

The answer is YES. our "we need a guy" pool is fricking massive now.

We have A LOT of serviceable players that will bust their tails and play with heart. Those guys are indispensable when needed.
