I just don't get rooting against the national team. Just can't do it. Even in a meaningless game. Mexico means nothing to us unless we draw them in a knockout round, in which case we could draw worse. They're irrelevant.
Plus, like I said, it scores huge condescending points to have them piggyback us into the WC.

We took out our best player in the game (Jozy), who was our only consistent threat, and we proceed to score 2 goals in 5 minutes to rip out Panama's heart. How the frick did that happen?
Mexico owes us huge. The only thing better than them finishing 5th in the hex is for the U.S. to give them false hope only to lose to terrible NZ. Would be pretty incredible actually.

It's for the greater good. Brazil is dangerous enough...we'd be sparing them the flood of Mexicans that would show up and never leave. We'd be doing the world a favor.
