ok pvilleguru... What changes would you have made? Assume everyone is healthy. You have to assume GGG is still married to the idea that Adams plays RB. Weah for Morris? Who would take Reams spot? Sarge or Jozy up top for GZ?

A true first 11 likely doesn't include Morris, Zardes, Long, or Arriola. I wouldn't start Trapp or Ream but have a feeling they will get the start with Berhalter. As far as keeper they all have something to prove, no one stands out more than the rest except maybe Steffen.

Arriola, Zardes, and Morris is not out first choice front line. I don't think we planned on bringing in a first choice front line for these games. I think there's a few other options on the wing (Pulisic included), and Jozy is still the #1 central forward.

He's not, but it did look good last night.

All of this.

Have to disagree here. While We handled Ecuador easily in defense, it is ECUADOR. I have to believe that there were 3 or maybe 4 situations where better competition skewer us and score. Ecuador honestly should have had 2 on the night minimum.

With that said, I enjoy seeing the willingness to change and commit to style of play. I just think that Adams in the midfield is the best option, and Yedlin is serviceable if you are going to push a RB forward all game and rely on CBs.

Again, yes.

But he was in the right side of the middle for most of the game. Just look at where most of his touches were.

Just to clarify... When you said "it" looked good,, I think Adams DEFINITELY bossed his role and looked great doing it.

Having said that, I don't think it is the right fit given the pool of players on the back line.

Not arguing that fact. Merely saying he should be a true mid and not play the hybrid RB role. If we are going to play 3 center backs and push the RB forward, we have a Yedlin who is good at forward runs and crosses but not so much at defending.

Leave Adams in the midfield and put Yedlin in. Gives us numbers AND pronounced midfield strength.

But that's not really what he wants in the position. It's less a RWB and more of an extra DM.

Yeah, I get that. I am saying I don't think that makes sense for our back line situation/personnel available.

Adams being caught forward and leaving 3 CBs to fend for themselves over all that space is a death sentence for an undertalented team.

I don't think he's getting that far forward. We're essentially clogging the middle of the field, preventing most counters.

I mean it’s not like he’s going to be going that far forward against a better team in the first place

Whoa gonna disagree big time here. The way this system works that LB is more of a LCB. Robinson's strength is bombing forward. If the role remains the same it does not suit Robinson at all.

ETA: And I would love to see an aerial duels won stat from last night. With Brooks, Long, Adams and McKennie we will win a shite ton of aerial duels

He's 6', so he can win balls in the air. He will only act as a LC when we're in possession, but he will have some opportunities to get forward to send crosses (I don't think we've seen that position do that yet because Robinson is our only LB that is decent at it and he's just returning from injury). He's fast enough to cover the gap on the left side of the field on counters. Once our defense gets set in our own end, I think you would want an actual LB out there instead of a CB trying to cover a winger.

Was that the plan ahead of time?

So no Adams or McKennie for Chile?
