Good news for the Honduras match is that with the Mexico/Costa Rica draw, Honduras is officially eliminated so maybe they'll be checked out on Wednesday.

I don’t ever want to have to go to Costa Rica needing to get points. Historically we get less points there than at Azteca.

No concacaf team truly checks out against us, imo. Especially the Central American ones.

Without a doubt, that last game for us needs to be for nothing

Agreed, but thankfully, it's no longer in Saprissa and the average age of Costa Rica is 50, so it would be the best chance for us to at least get a draw.

With that said, this whole cycle is a failure if we're still needing points on the final matchday.

Honduras did a few months back. Just get one goal and they're done.

I’m happy with the Mexico Costa Rica draw. Mexico can’t get too cute and try any gentleman’s tie frickery of the US against Panama. They need to beat Panama next game full stop.

Mexico beats Panama in Aztecs and US beats Honduras, two things that absolutely should happen, and the US goes into the final window 4 points ahead of Panama.

Mathematically they could still be caught be Costa Rica but functionally all the US needs to do is beat Panama at home in the final window and a top 3 finish is secure.

Problem is the Panama game is the second game of the final window. We’re 0-2-2 in second games thus far. We also will be playing in Azteca before it. If we don’t win vs Panama, seems unlikely we’ll get higher than 4th.

We have better players than Panama, but they simply have been a better team. Count on the worst under the Gregg regime.

That’s right but 3 out of the 4 second games have been on the road. Hopefully the status quo changes in the final window.

I’m pretty sure we are going to end up needing that win against panama on 3/27. God help us if we lose that game.

El Salvador beats Honduras 2-0.

Honduras can only finish in 4th place, but there's 0% chance of that happening and they have yet to win a match in The Oct.

The last time we played a winless team that was already eliminated in the final round of World Cup Qualifying we totally took care of business.

We very well might lose to Honduras, especially in miserably cold St. Paul.

Stewart, McBride, and especially Berhalter should all be fired if we don’t qualify. Berhalter should be fired if we lose to Honduras.

I don't think we're losing to them, not convinced we win though.

This loss is not sitting well. The whole process is just an indictment of the USSF. How can the richest country in the world with 330 million people not produce XI decent players and one decent coach? Canada has 1/10 of our population and is covered in a sheet of ice half the year and they went from barely qualifying for the Gold Cup to the top of CONCACAF in like five years! I guess it’s one of the great mysteries of the universe: why can’t the US get its shite together in soccer?

I accepted a long time ago that we just probably never will. Majority of kids don’t grow up wanting to be soccer stars here. Hopefully with the premier league and other top int. Leagues getting more exposure in the US will help turn a lot of interest towards the sport.

I think supporting coaching education and grassroots soccer is a better way to accomplish this.

I sure hope it’s a goalless draw, because on our current track, we aren’t fricking scoring even we played in Honolulu

It has like 5% to do with this and 95% to do with what cwill said.

There are plenty of athletes to go around that soccer can be dominant in this country without needing to poach athletes from other sports. But there simply aren't enough qualified coaches to properly cultivate that talent at the 9-16 year old ages.

And they're doing it with their best striker having been born in America.

Canada's quick ascent is really fricking over the entire narrative that the USSF has been trying to feed for the last decade, in that building a successful national team takes time. That's all been rendered bullshite and it comes at a time where we finally passed up Mexico again only for Canada to speed right by everyone.

Let me add emphasis to this.

GGG called up
one true left back.
A. Rob

His cover for left back is Dest.

In two games Thursday and Sunday Dest played 171 minutes and A. Rob played 190 minutes. For El Salvador he can bring in a fresh Yedlin or play Cannon. He called Brooks Lennon but Lennon was sent home. He did not call in Joe Scally that has played at both RB and LB.
