There are things we can do better, and maybe tinker with the lineup, but that was a tie game we lost by two. We each had a chance off a corner, ours was cleared off the line and there's wasn't. We had the ball in their box more than enough to get a fluky pk call, but didn't. They had a shot hit the post, Dempsey had a shot miss the post by an inch and an amazing save by Ospina.

Guzan made a few more saves to make, but we had more possession.

Some of y'all are absurd. This happens sometimes in soccer, we needed luck this game and didn't get it, they did. Let's at least wait till the Costa Rica game before melting this much. Colombia is a legit top ten team in the world, we played better in this game than we did against Ghana in the World Cup. But we won that one and lost this one. Yet you would've thought we were WC contenders after that win and now we're the worst team in the world. Jesus. Calm down.

You're probably correct. However, in my drunken and pissed off state I'm still mad Jurgen picked Wondo over Morris.

I'm glad I didn't watch. I used to record every game but I haven't cared enough lately. Klinsmann is killing it for me.

Had Princeton ended up winning tonight, watching that game still would've been a better decisions than watching the US match.

Same. Since the Dome disaster against Jamaica, I haven't watched a single match all the way through. Didn't see a minute of last night. It's too frustrating.

eh. last night wasn't so bad

we had 3 big mistakes and 2 ended up in goals

we had form/shape pretty consistently and we didn't have the "frick it just do what you want" shite we've seen

we just lacked creativity in the final 3rd, which isn't shocking with that midfield we trotted out there and dempsey being lazy/bad dempsey without any of his lucky shite finding the back of the net

if we had that game against honduras i'd be upset, but it was colombia

I wonder if a guy named Darlington could have done something about that

For a guy who likes to flaunt his superior tactical knowledge in the face of the lowly US Soccer fans, he really doesn't understand formational balance very well. Some coaches can create a funky unbalanced buildup that exploits matchups, see: Guardiola, Josep, but Klinsmann is just confused out there.

yeah i said early on yesterday i was worried about having 2 defensive-ish CMs and then bedoya, who has work rate but doesn't ever provide much in terms of offensive output/opportunity. i know he plays centrally in France and it's his preferred position, but he's so much more valuabel as an outside accessory who has an insane work rate

Expected goals for that game minus the pk was

Colombia .78
USA .72

And again we had the ball in and around their box just as much as they did ours, we just never got a fluky pk. We also controlled the game passing until the final third better than we usually do, it was pretty impressive. Yes we lacked creativity and ruthlessness in the final third, but we still created good chances. Plus this was a very good side, and our tactics and play were worthy of a draw at least. If we're this undynamic in a must win game against Costa Rica then I'll join in the anger.

I feel the same fricking way. His tactical ineptness and player selection takes the excitement out of international football for me.
