Despite all the melt, we didn't play THAT poorly.

That said - we don't have the talent to make the mistakes we made today and get points, and certainly not against this opponent.

We MIGHT be able to do it against Costa Rica (but probably not), and most likely make a mistake or two against Paraguay and get a result, but Colombia?

You make mistakes against good teams and this is the result you get.

The fat Mexican with the mustache on the post match show wants to bench Bradley.

We have always looked our best with Jozy in the lineup, it gives Bradley someone to make his trademark passes up to. Dempsey cannot create chances without running off of someone, he needs a partner up top. He is not a striker, and that's the problem. Jurgen wants the ball to run off Dempsey, when it should be Dempsey running off of the ball

we have to play a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1 with dampsey, but we don't really have a CF/10 to pair with him so that leaves us with the 4-4-2. the issue with us playing the 4-4-2 is that we lose our shite in the midfield in that formation often

Agree with all of that. My melt is due to not creating any chances to speak of.

It's ridiculous he isn't starting, he couldn't get into a flow tonight either. I think you bring him on for Jones, who I think may be able to do much better off of the bench with his work rate.

That hasn't been true in over 3 years. Since then, he plays like he is about 5'7" and 130lbs.

Duece just needs to play some basic balls every once in awhile. He goes for the flash every time, and 9 times out of 10, it won't work. Is great when it does, just not that common.

Bobby Wood is not a winger. He should be playing in the middle, up top, with Duece just behind as a false 9.

There is no link up in the final 3rd, from anyone. If it isn't a cross in, we aren't making any passes. That is where Colombia ate us up tonight. Their flow on the counterattack was lightyears better.

So you want a 9 and a false 9?

Pretty much. A diamond 4-4-2...or as I like to more aptly say, a 4-1-3-1-1. Give Deuce the freedom to roam, much like a 10. It's difficult to explain, but I think it works with each of their styles.

Colombia only had two real chances off the counter, one where Bradley lost possession which resulted in the Yedlin handball, and one where they put it off the top bar.

The problem to me is we can't create through the middle. We tried to play wide but the Colombia defense was on point. Any link up passes though the middle were shut down, or they had fouled from 25 yards and took their chances to defend set pieces.

Bedoya cleated the guys ankle. Definitely worthy of a yellow.

The ref was good and consistent. Our play, not so much. Bradley had no presence and made several bad passes. Bedoya and Jones need to be replaced. Jones is too old and Bedoya is just not very good.

Age-wise, yes, but he still plays with more passion and exuberance than most.
