We win on Czech soil against a team in their tune up before playing the Dutch in a Euro Qualifier match. With an extremely young team.
Great result. America, Home of the Free and Home of fantastic Keepers.

I thought Mix really stepped up when given responsibility and asked to lead. IIRC he did the same thing in a game or two at the Gold Cup. Good to see.
I tell you what I don't see yet is any heir apparent to Donovan (no sarcasm). Not that we will ever again necessarily have another player like him.

I really like Mix. He has flair and calmness on the ball that we don't see much in our player pool.

It will take time for that, but as always a player will emerge and be the guy to make the magic moments. We are going to be a power sooner, rather than later.

Always good when a very young team gets a win in Prague against the first team prepping for Euro qualifiers. No complaints there. Random thoughts:
- Johnson and Brooks looked good in the back
- Mix did well in his role in the middle
- I thought the first half Gyau was dangerous. Also felt he made some diagonal runs that nobody played him in on. Second half was sloppy and had some defensive lapses. But all in all, good performance for a first cap
- Jozy's hold up play was fantastic
- I thought Green looked like shite. Kid really needs to put some meat on his bones
- Second half was a mess as most friendlies can be. Hyndman did some good things. Seemed like he had good composure on the ball
- Garza looked lost at times
- Ream was solid

He reminded me of an Edgar Castillo that wouldn't go forward, which is kind of scary considering Garza beat out Castillo with Xolos.

Brooks really impressed me with his ball control. He still had some scary moments due to mental lapses or poor positioning though.
I was disappointed in Green's play.
Corona was probably our worst player in the first half.

It was either him or Green.
Chandler looked almost as threatening as he did in that 2011 Argentina friendly, so I guess there is a sliver of hope for him.

At this point, I hate watching Green play. His triple shite corners made my eyes bleed. He has a really long, long way to go.

Yeah those set pieces were awful. Surely we had someone better to take them, right?
Posted on 9/4/14 at 9:54 am to cwil177
Why Mix wasn't taking set pieces, I don't know.

Green was pretty decent in the first half. Seemed to be in bad shape and wore down in the second. Don't think he was that bad.

He had the bad set pieces, the giveaway that should've led to a goal and, physically, still looked like a kid playing a man's game. He was on the ground a lot.
Good that he got a full 90 run though.

Almost seemed like Johnson was purposely not playing the ball to Gyau in 2nd half attacks.
HH probably texted him at halftime saying Gyau sucked.

Carlisle reported his grades:
Highest - Nick Rimando, 9. Excellent in all phases, numerous saves.
Lowest - Julian Green, 4. Physically overmatched, poor giveaway, crap on set pieces. Joe Gyau, 4. Lacked finishing with shots and crosses, bad defense, ball watched, really bad giveaways. Brek Shea, 4. Nothing on counterattack, poor touches.

I do not enjoy watching him play just like you hate watching Gyau. Also, he was one of the worst players in the first half. I did not see the second half.

Giving Gyau the same grade as Shea and Green is preventing me from giving a shite about the rest of those grades.

I would love to sit next to him one game so I know what the hell he is watching. After reading his report cards for a lot of the games I think he's watching something else most of the time. My favorite was his assessment of Brad Davis' WC performance. I almost lost my shite

Thought the exact same thing when I saw them. At least Green and Gyau did at least 1 thing right... Shea what just horrible.

That dude loves to give everyone a six or a four if he thought they were awful.
Hat trick: six
Normal decent game: six
Mediocre: six
Brek Shea: four
