I honestly don't understand why people feel like this game was going to be a breeze.

You do realize he was talking about the Gold Cup, not this game, right? Where we lost to Jamaica (for a second time under this manager, the only two losses to that team in history) before the finals, which if we had won there would have been no meaningful match tonight because we would have already qualified for the Confederations Cup?

You do realize that the Mexico team that won the Gold Cup had been bailed by the officials in extra time in two previous games just to have the chance to make it to the finals? Where Mexico was still being managed by another coach who has since been fired and replaced, while our manager has excused his own poor tactical decisions by speaking down to the fans, poor-mouthing the national league, and then continuing to make poor tactical decisions?

No, we're not aware that the players have to play for club teams. We don't understand the sport, as Klinsmann himself will tell you. Thanks for the tips.

Yes, Mexico was shite in the Gold Cup and we took a bunch of randoms
The US has good players. If randoms is your way of saying American players are shite, boy you've lost your mind.
USMNT got out played by a good team. It's that simple.

I'm done. This is pointless. You still don't understand what I'm talking about. Do you even realize why this game was played and what happened in the Gold Cup?

And stop upvoting yourself. No one else here would upvote that dumb shite you're posting.

Klinsmann: "The Gold Cup was influenced by poor referee decisions. That's why we were here tonight." Wow. #USAMEX #CONCACAFCup

Are you surprised? He always makes excuses for his team's failures. Really, Mexico was here tonight because of shitty GC refereeing. Maybe Costa Rica, Panama, or Jamaica would have been here instead.

First of all, are you going to blame today's loss on a previous game? Shoulda coulda woulda? Just because Jamaica won that game, all of a sudden that means the US team sucks? Talk about being a terrible fan.

There is so much irony in this. Mexico faced adversity and still managed to pull a win. And at the same time things weren't as rosy on the US side.

Seriously though, the USMNT will never advance in part because of whiny fans like you. Alexi Lalas was melting on TV and blaming the coach. I'll take advice from a world cup winning player any time over I don't know...you?

You're either trolling, incompetent, or have the reading comprehension of dirt. I'll spell it out for you in case it's the second.

"First of all" you were responding to another poster's post about the Gold Cup, not about the game tonight. My response to you was about the situation in the Gold Cup, not about the game tonight. You seem to think that the both the person you were responding to and the person who responded to you were talking about today's loss instead of the situation in the Gold Cup which led to this match even being played at all. You were mistaken. If you weren't aware that the game tonight was not part of the Gold Cup, now you should be. You're welcome.

There is so much irony in this.
In what way were what words used to convey some meaning that was the opposite of their literal meaning with regards to the Gold Cup situation that was being discussed? I'm assuming that you're referring to the topic of officiating in the Gold Cup?

Okay, the quotes by Klinsmann are posted in this thread two posts above your own post. They concern the same Gold Cup competition and the same officiating that we were discussing and that you found to be ironic. Do you now also think that the USMNT won't advance because of "whiny" managers like him?

As to your other salient contributions to the thread, yes, we're still aware that players play for both club and country and that they can get injured. That's why, for example, Johannsson was not available for this match. Thanks again for pointing that out.

Your quote pertaining to this game was "A shite Mexican team?? I honestly don't understand why people feel like this game was going to be a breeze." But you were responding to someone who was talking about the Mexico team at the Gold Cup which was struggling in that tournament and which required extremely questionable calls to advance, not the team competing in the match tonight. I'll spell this out for you since you seemed to be confused before. Had the US won the Gold Cup, the game tonight would not have been played because the US would have already qualified for the Confederations Cup. The Gold Cup games were meaningful because of this. This is not "blam[ing] today's loss on a previous game" as you somehow think, but pointing out that the manager essentially had two chances to qualify the team for the Confederations Cup and was unable to succeed at either attempt.

In addition to those stellar contributions to the thread, you're calling me out as a "terrible" and "whiny" fan and saying that I'm blaming today's loss on a previous game.

Go back. Read the original post you replied to, your own post, and my post in response to that. Read them slowly. Read them again. Get someone to help you with whichever words or phrases give you problems. Draw yourself an outline to try and help yourself understand. It's okay to use either the big pencil or the crayons, whichever you need. Once you're done, either 1) quote the previous posts and bold the parts that pertain to tonight's match and/or state that the US team sucks or 2) come back and admit your incompetence. I'll be waiting with bated breath.
