I swear, I've never posted on reddit in my life.
We got a plagiarist in our midst.

They talk about UCLA and USC in their other comments. Is it BCLA? Also they have a comment calling the El Salvador match the Mona Lisa of concacaf matches, which was a Hendo comment

Alejandro Alvarado is the only U20 non-Portuguese player to start in the Primeira Liga this season. The USSF did not overlook him and invited him for every U20 camp until he finally could be released.

Alvarado could have easily declined this provisional cap-tying event to focus on his club or if he was very unsure internationally, just like Luca Koleosho declined Canada U20. It's great to see a player with this level of promise show commitment to the US U20s.

It's not me, I have the same username and I only get banned from reddit. Lol

Definitely not. I'd rather browse the policital talk board here than touch Reddit

I’ve been very impressed by Alvarado, a player who I knew almost nothing about before this tournament.
Aaronson and Sullivan have been consistently lights out. Edelman and Puskas were both solid in the 6 role. I love Diego Luna and think he has the potential to be a full national team player. It will be interesting to see how he does at RSL. Craig is solid defensively and also takes set pieces for some reason

Ha, it shall remain a mystery. Or broski is trolling us and we should really be asking him for tax advice (based on the user’s other comments)

First time since 2008 in the Olympics!
Believe it or not this is massive to get Americans interested in soccer. Older generations and even some young definitely follow the summer Olympics.
Gives us another tournament to root for.

But did they steal the guernica bit? That was a deep cut for my artsy homies.

Can someone catch me up here… wasn’t it just last summer we failed to qualify for 2020 (2021 games)?
That was with the u23s. When did they switch it to qualification with your u20s?

From the OP (that reddit stole)
quote:
We've already qualified for the u20 World Cup next year, but a win today will clinch a spot in the Olympics for the first time since 2008.
Why is that the qualifying format this time around?
Well because the USSF finally started throwing its weight around in CONCACAF and made changes to the format knowing that we have a better chance of qualifying for the Olympics with our promising U20's rather than relying on our MLS U23's to get the job done.
Anyway, we're playing Honduras, who actually has a decent squad.
Cade Cowell also suspended for this match because of that epic brawl with Costa Rica last match.

So why was the previous format so much worse for the US?
Is it because it is a fall tournament where teams don’t have to release their players? Therefore, all of our U-23s in Europe are unable to play? And it’s basically our MLS guys versus everyone else’s domestic plus MLS guys?
Whereas this is a summer tournament and all interested players are going to play since there are no club matches at the moment?

I think in the lead up to 2012 and 2016, it was because our U23's were just not very good. Go back and look at the rosters for those squads that failed to qualify, many of those players hardly or never sniffed the full national team.
However in the case of last year, our U23's were so good that they made up the majority of our full national team and first teamers in Europe and their clubs weren't releasing them for a U23 tournament, so we sent Jackson Yueill and the MLS All Stars.
Granted, we still should be qualifying out of CONCACAF regardless of the talent we're sending. But, and I'm not just saying this because we finally qualified, I like the idea of having the U20's qualify two years before the Olympics. It allows you to bring a full strength youth squad and those guys could very well be factoring in a U23 setting in two years anyway.

Top notch quality from this u20 side. Fun to watch, creative, and tactically sound for the most part. I know it’s a concacaf u20 tourney but they look really good and if they keep progressing I would be surprised if some on this team aren’t starting in the World Cup in 2026.
