In other pertinent news, Real Madrid has dropped out of Pot 1 for the upcoming CL drawing.

You think City should just get to vault ahead to Pot 1 just because they spent a lot of money despite have zero European pedigree?

I think they pots should be based on "what have you done recently?", not lets take into account Chelsea or United winning the UCL 4-5 years ago.

Should Spain/Germany be a seeded team in the next World Cup just because they've won tournaments in the last few years? Nope.

United have won the most BPL titles, that doesn't mean they should get a three point head start in front of everyone at the beginning of the year after a shiit year.

No team, IMO, deserves an advantage based on anything that's happened five years ago. It should all be based on where they finished the previous year.

Just pull them all out at random, no pots.

Barca, RM, Man City, and Bayern Munich get out in the same group? So be it.

that is recently

City since the take over has never got passed the round of 16. Crashed out their group multiple times and before that shite the bed in Europa.

City has never won their group and has not done anything to deserve being a top seed.

Using United is an awful example

since City's take over dropping a billion pounds

United has won Europe, made two more finals and failed to get out the group just once.

Made it to the last 8 just last season to Bayern, and the year before lost in the last 16 to Madrid.

So stop your bitching

https://www.euroclubindex.com/

This a club ranking system that takes into account some of the 5 year EL/CL results UEFA uses but also weighs recent performance in domestic leagues and their relative strengths.

Like an computer formula it has its issues but it does eliminate the odd outliers that are based on great or horrible results a club may have had 4 or 5 years ago.

That title seems so long ago but you're right. BTW, that was one of the most exciting games I've ever watched. I about went nuts when Drogba scored on that header.

I disagree with this, winning the most competitive league in the world twice in the last three years should make you deserving of being in pot one.

United has won Europe, made two more finals and failed to get out the group just once.

They have made on final in the last five years. Quit living in the last decade. City have at least qualified directly for the tourny, unlike United who missed a year totally and are going to have to play in the playoff to even get in for next year.

I'm not making excuses for City, because they have had their chances and dicked it up, but winning the league should be rewarding when it comes to the UCL. It shouldn't be something that only directly effects being able to play in it.

City has done nothing to warrant getting a top seed

Their performance in the competition speaks for it's self.

United in the last three years at least made it to the last 8 and have won their group.
