It looked a lot worse in real time than slow motion. Refs only have real time to make a judgement.

Whether it was a red or not doesn't really matter. The childish insults they threw at each other had me laughing. "Fat so"

Clear red, but the call ultimately didn't affect the match. Cards aren't given on whether or not there was an injury. The intent was clearly there, and had Suarez moved even in the slightest, the tackle would have ended in injury.

At first I thought, yeah, red. Then I thought, nah he didn't touch him.
Then I looked at that reverse angle and it's painfully obvious that he had no business going in like that as the ball was nowhere near. Red seems like the right decision.

From what I saw, I didn't like it. Didn't hate it because it looked like it was gonna be bad but on replay I thought Colo pulled out early enough. He looked like he was ready to wreck him at first but thought better and did well not to.

I'm not going to argue about it, mostly because it really doesn't matter to me, but a big misconception people have when talking about cards is whether contact was made. Nowhere in the rule book does it say anything about contact or being touched, and that is done on purpose. The rule book effectively places intent and contact on level fields. A player shouldn't be disciplined only if contact is made, partly because it doesn't do much to prevent future tackles like that from happening.

I understand that and it was my main point in arguing the Torres card for "diving" last week. Even though there was contact even if there hadn't been when Evans came sliding right into him studs up Torres had every right to get out of the way of the dangerous tackle and the ref had every right to give at least a foul, if not a yellow, to Evans for dangerous intent.
Like I said, in my view Colo pulled back enough not to warrant a red and the fact Suarez acted the way he did would just further incline me not to send him off.
