900!
Neymar says he could stay at Santos for 2 to 5 years. He loves it and is truly happy. However, does have European dreams.

Sort of pissed Sanchez is going to Barca. He will get plenty of playing time but he wont be in the starting eleven. No way does he take Pedro's spot. Not this yr at least. Wish he could've gone to a Man City where he could have a chance to be the star of the show. Oh well ill be watching a ton of Barca games now.
Even though I'm an AS Roma fan and Sanchez to Barca likely seals the deal that Bojan will be sold to Roma, I'm still pissed he's going to Barca.
I love watching him play in the fast paced counter attacking style Udinese played; sucks too that Udinese would have been one of the most exiting teams to watch in CL next year too if they'd been able to keep him.
He's brilliant in open space on the counter but can't imagine getting to see this aspect of his game being as prevalent at Barca since they aren't counter attack oriented. I agree it would've been more fun to watch him at City teamed with Tevez, Silva, Balotelli, Toure ect. in counters.
I wouldn't be surprised if he plays a ton for them though and does push Pedro for time once he adjusts.

Did not make it to the games was out if town. Did you go? Heard it was great.

yeah, it was cool. there were so many god damn salvadorians, though. I'm sorta glad they lost because they kept on "arrreba"-ing and beating drums and using noise makers to whip themselves up in a frenzy during the USA/JAM match. it was kind of distracting.

There's no way you're gonna convince me that Barca bought Ibrahim Afellay for 4 million in January, and Alexis Sanchez is EIGHT TIMES better than him.

Afellay's contract was running out wasn't it? That's how Madrid got Ozil for something silly like 10 million dollars (or a little more than half of what it took Liverpool to get Jordan Henderson
)
I assume Sanchez is under contract so they don't have to sell him. I don't know exactly why they have to have him though.

Yep, and he told PSV he wasn't going to resign. Hence the bargain buy.
Sanchez also had sort of a bidding war, which resulted in his price going up.

I like Sanchez...exciting player. I sure hope his goal ratio (94/20) goes up for that investment.
He actually played better this season, in the middle of the pitch, rather than being out on the wing. However, Messi has that covered for Barca...
I would have spent my money on Rossi, left footer on the right wing, cutting inside...he'd do well.

It is way to early for him to get this kind of job, imo.
I was listening to a soccer show today and they were saying how Hiddink's (sp?) contract with Turkey expires he is going back to Chelsea but won't be the manager.

Villas-Boas resigns at Porto per soccernet. Next stop West London.

Good move by Chelsea. He's going to be a superstar. I was hoping he would wait a few years so we could get him after Wenger retires.
Posted on 6/21/11 at 7:42 am to crazy4lsu
what kind of style of play does he coach?
Posted on 6/21/11 at 7:48 am to SlowFlowPro
He's a Robson disciple, supposedly the next Mourinho, though he might be more attacking. His teams have excellent defensive discipline. His Porto team finished the season unbeaten in league play. He's only 33.

Any word on Hazard and Arsenal? The guy is he best kept secret in soccer right now. Whoever gets him is getting a future world class star.
Posted on 6/21/11 at 7:54 am to UnluckyTiger
He's probably going to stay at Lille, though Man City might get him now that Sanchez is going to Barca. I'd love to have him though, as he's as dynamic a player as Ligue 1 has produced.
Also, a good article on Villas-Boas from April or thereabouts.

He would have been my choice, had King Kenny not have worked out...
