We have an issue with squad depth though. I don’t see how sending out 3 attacking mids and bringing in a winger is going to help us. We have once again made a mess of this window. 9 days left and not a single thing sorted.

I think you're going to see a lot more moves starting tomorrow.

It felt like clubs were trying to get to the International Break before officially parting with players.

Some weird stuff coming out about Lo Celso over the past 24hr. Not to mention his Instagram post prior to the Chelsea match.

Not sure if it's a hit piece by the club to force him out, but a lot is coming out about his personal character. Sources saying he's rude to all the non-playing staff around the training ground and just a bit of a nut job.

There’s a lot of dead weight in the club right now that very few clubs seem interested in:
- Dele
- Lo Celso
- Rodon
- Ndombele

We need serious upgrades over Sanchez, Davies and Doherty. Even Højbjerg has been playing poorly. Royal hasn’t lived up to expectations this far….jury is still out on Romero, IMO. We know that you can’t fix all of these problems in January, and it would be absurd to even think you could. BUT, it would be nice to see SOME inclination by club management to want to improve and fulfill their promise to Conte.

We can fix a lot if we fix the midfield. While I think the defense needs work they can hold their own until summer and with a better midfield they won’t be asked to do as much.

I really wonder if playing a 3-5-2 could solve a lot of the midfield/defensive issues.

If we got a proper creative mid that could play in front of Hojbjerg and Skipp it would give us numbers in the middle while still maintaining some creativity. A midfield 3 of Winks, Skipp, & Hojbjerg just doesn’t offer enough going forward.

Lots of smoke that Conte isn’t happy with lack of transfers. How long til he says screw this and walks?

I don’t want to say “I told y’all so,” but frick I hate being right about this. There’s no reason any manager should trust Levy. I honestly don’t think Levy has any ambitions of doing anything well. I think he just wants to sit around 4-7th place each year and get a check or 2 every few years from CL if possible.

If he walks, because he’s not backed, the stadium will become one hell of a toxic place…And there’s a part of me that wants to see it.

Tottenham in talks with Fiorentina over Sofyan Amrabat move

Amrabat(3.99) is more similar to Skipp(4.73) when it comes to progressive passes per 90, where Winks (6.48) stands out slightly more (FBref).

And the Moroccan(3.82) profiles similarly to Winks (3.89) in terms of progressive carries per 90, which is where Skipp(5.87) seems to excel (FBref).

But Amrabat is a more gifted dribbler than the English pair, with his completed dribbles per 90 ranking far higher than Skipp (0.1) and Winks (0.73).

Along with Pierre-Emerick Hojbjerg, all three offer very little in terms of consistent attacking threat in the final third.

Lol so a midfielder with less progressive passes than Winks and less progressive carries that Skipp. I swear this club will be the death of me.

Levy

I think Levy has actually given control over player signings to Paratici.

Besides January being harder to deal in, I'm just going to chalk up Traore and Diaz to being unlucky. It sounds like Spurs offered both adequate financial packages, but both players just preferred to go to Barcelona and Liverpool, respectively. (And I can't really blame them for that.)

I'm just hoping to move some players along at this point.

That is perfect hahaha. Sounds like Lyon may be taking his lazy arse back

We made a signing!

Bentancur to sign soon too. Don’t know anything about these guys but some Serie A analysts seem to think they could get back to their best under Conte

I really like the Kulusevski transfer, but hard to argue that we got better this window. Moving 3 "attacking" mids and a winger we just spent decent money on to replace them with 1 winger and 1 defensive mid with a profile similar to Hojbjerg, Skipp, & Winks.

We really needed to bring an attacking mid in this window.

I'm looking at this window as more of a clearing out some deadwood portion. Can re-evaluate in the summer. (Also have Pape Matar-Sarr coming in this summer as well.)

I do like how Gil's is just a loan with no option. He's young and talented, needs games at this point.

I can see that point of view for sure. Hopefully Tanguy and Gio do well and the buy options are taken up. That would be a decent injection of cash into the summer transfer window.

I hate to see Dele go, but it was time. We have been waiting for him to kick-on with every new manager since Poch left and it's just hasn't happened.

You were right the first time. The squad is weaker now than it was a week ago. And the players we’re moving out are loans (except Dele), guarantee those options won’t get triggered and they’ll be right back here in the summer, struggling to move them on permanently and firing up the “we need to sell to buy” excuse.

Levy has managed to get wages off the books, but where’s that money going? Not back into the squad at the moment. No right back, no cb, no striker, no creative mid. This squad won’t finish top 4, and it’s a Harry Kane injury away from finishing outside of Europe.

From a numbers standpoint I still agree. That being said, Lo Celso, Dele, & Ndombele weren't getting any minutes. Their value was only going to suffer even more sitting on the bench the rest of the season. Maybe they find some form in Spain and France and we are at least in a better position to negotiate this summer.

I'm interested to see what the plan is for Kulusevski. I read a pretty in depth article about his development and best position. Two of our best performances came when Conte set up in a 352. I think the plan for him could be to play as more of a floating number 10 behind Son and Kane. If that is the case I think a rotation of Skipp, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, & Winks could be enough to get us through the rest of the season. Bergwijn and Moura can provide cove up top and out wide.

I would have loved to get a CB and RWB in this window, but I'm not sure there was a CB available worth moving for. Most of the guys we have been connected to are still playing in Europe or fighting for top spots in their league(De Vrij, Skriniar, Romangnoli, Carlos, Kounde). I think we will be fine at CB with Dier & Romero partnering with either Davies or Sanchez. We have cover at RB with Doherty and Emerson, but neither of them look up to the wingback role that Conte's system thrives on. This is by far our weakest link.

Let's just pray Son and Kane stay healthy the second half of the season and we finish in that 4 spot. Could be a big summer if we make that happen! COYS
