Spending a month just in Doha for games would fricking blow bc there is only so much you can do. Part of the WC experience is traveling around to new cities. No way the city has enough infrastructure for that influx of travelers.

So, in their proposal, the questionnaire asks about whether you have a list of necessary items. They included:

A public transportation system
Interstate highways
A minimum of 150,000 3* hotel rooms
A sewage system
An immigration apparatus to vet and grant tourist visas
An internal security force
Established vendor support services
A population large enough to provide 80,000 volunteers.

And Qatar answered: "No. We do not have any of that stuff. But, LNG prices are gonna stay at $18 forever. So we are gonna spend $1 trillion over the next 10 years and make all of that happen."

And they gave them the tournament.

In the meantime, LNG prices are falling past $8 and they don't have 10% of what they said they would have completed yet.

Qatar basically said, " Well, none of this infrastructure actually exists yet, but we'll build several cities, let alone stadiums, for the Workd Cup." What a farce.

I know this is probably way too forward, but with the 2026 bid seemingly going to USA/Mexico/Canada, who would get the 2022 World Cup if FIFA deems Qatar unfit to host and takes the games away?

The hands down leader for the 2022 Replacement Cup is England. They are just coming off an Olympics and they have everything they need.

We are getting the 2026 World Cup. It will be the first one with 48 teams. And we will share it with Mexico and Canada. So we aren't eligible for the 2022 event. I honestly hope they go ahead and give it to England. They haven't had one since the 60s or something.

I think the deal we made was that we would get 2026 if we didn't make a big scene about 2022. I would honestly rather have 2026. It will be a great opportunity to showcase America. And it will be an even more glorious standard once/if Qatar totally screws up their tournament.

I will be 54 years old! My kids will all be in college. Hard to believe.

The only other country that I can think of that would be in a position to host on short notice that is NOT in Europe would be Japan.

But the trend has been for exotic, developing countries. Russia, Brazil, South Africa, Qatar etc. It's time to bring it back to civilization and reward the people (and companies) who actually pay for the games.

Companies like Budweiser, Nikon, Visa, McDonalds, Sony. The all want it in a place with air conditioning and shaved pussy.

It should go England, USA (with Canada and Mexico), Japan or Korea, Germany or Italy, Chile and Argentina (combined).
