I think Matic is a good signing for Man U. Herrera can be the all action player, Matic can be the anchor and Pogba can have a free role. Man U's midfield might finally achieve that elusive balance. I think they will do well this year.

Not a big fan of this signing. Feel like it's a question whether he'll start or not. Hopefully he plays better than the last season he was under Jose.

Its a solid signing

the only negative is his age.

Price is only noteworthy when City is overspending.

40 for Matic is comical

Yea the prices is about 10 million to much for a player his age. Apparently Chelsea wanted more initially.

But that's the tax of big club selling to big club

He's not a long term solution

Maybe but I don't think so. The fee is being reported as 35 with a potential 5 in add-ons. In the current market, there are fullbacks going for 50M+ and GKs going for 35M.

Matic will start in the center of midfield in a position of need. He's a premier league medal winner in a Mourinho side. The manager knows and trusts him. He won't need to adapt to the manager or to the style of the premier league. He turns 29 like tomorrow so he has a few years left at the highest level in that position. Defensive midfielders are known to have slightly longer longevity than other mfs.

Maybe it is comical to some, but paying 35M-40M for a starting center midfielder who's ready to slide straight into the starting 11 isn't that crazy to me in this market.

I still don't know why some of y'all get hung up on transfer fees so much. It's not like any of these clubs are going to go into debt or violate FFP or anything like that with these.

It's basically a name your price world now.

Yeah, I don't care at all. I normally don't jump in to those conversations. There were a couple of reasons worth pointing out to me with this one though.

United had revenues of over 765M last year. The club should spend 40M on a starting defensive mid when it needs one.

Its not crazy because its man united. Hypothetically Crystal Palace or Southampton probably could have bought him for 10-15 mm less. I almost feel kinda bad but then again man utd isn't going broke any time soon.

Exactly. The fee for Matic is certainly too much, but I mean it's not like United can't afford it

But does he? I'm not sure he's a lock to start.

If he does start it's not a good thing for United. Unless they plan on signing Kante also he's going to be a liability for them.

Your hot takes are getting worse and worse

Stop trying to pretend you don't like the guy or where never in for Lukaku. When you didn't even know who Morata was.
