Idk man, I learned that the defense is the backbone and midfield is the heart.

He’s made some pretty bad mistakes

Can you point these out to me?

He's been Arsenals best player in 2 of the 3 or 4 Europa League games he's played.

And he didn't play today as he is coming back from injury plus I'm not so sure Arteta wasn't trying to lose on purpose

Dude he's still coming back from an injury.

Named to the bench and healthy enough to get a WC call up

And if he’s still coming back from injury he should definitely not start

I wish he would have stayed in MLS until at the WC. He knew he was never going to be the #1 at Arsenal.

Interesting choice to die on that hill instead of just being like "my bad, I didn't know he was injured."

But you do you, king.

Errors that almost cost them goals

Some of those Europa matches he faced like 1 shot

More reason not to start him

So your saying Arteta is going to named a unhealthy player to the bench

I know he was hurt but if he’s getting named the bench tonight and the WC he’s now healthy

Regardless he shouldn’t start

Teams put not fully fit guys on the bench all the time across multiple sports. It's not that hard to understand... yet here you are.

hasn’t been great when he does

Tell me you don’t watch Arsenal without telling me you don’t watch Arsenal.

He’s our undisputed #1 according to almost everyone who watches the USMNT

ETA: I just read the rest of your takes in this thread, JFC

If he's healthy, frick yes. It's not even remotely close.

He’s not getting any reps, four matches in Europa he’s barely seen any live action and you think he’s is the undisputed #1. Who knows what form he’s in.

When he was an every week starter at NE he was for sure the #1 for the national team

For GK it’s much different than an outfield player

He still looked pretty damn sharp under the Japanese barrage

By that logic, you want Sean Johnson to start over both Horvath and Turner. He's had more reps than anyone in the last year.

frick no

I already said Horvath should start

Getting plenty of reps vs better competition

Sean is suspect in net anyway, has always made calamity errors in goal

You haven't watched a second of Ethan Horvath, have you?

Anyone that thinks otherwise hasn’t been paying attention or is being deliberately obtuse.
I’ve watched him play in every Arsenal game this year and he’s been very solid other than being a little shaky with his feet the first time he started.

Of course I have he isn’t great either right now

The position that used to be a strength isn’t so much anymore

Turner coming off injury and barley playing before isn’t a great recipe

Like I said before if he was still at NE he’s is unquestionably going to start

Now we don’t know what type of form he’s in

I mean he’s made one save and conceded one goal
