As much as Origi has improved his game, one thing he is NOT good at that for some reason he imagines he is wonderful at is dribbling the ball in close possession.
Gini Wijnaldum? Yes.
Origi? No.
And the skill he imagines he has in this area caused an easy turnover for Napoli, a quick break, and *boom* a Napoli goal.

Why has our defense looked so bad? I can’t figure this one out.

It is, but to be fair, this is one of the first times this year our normal back 4 will play most of a full match together... also cant underestimate how big of an impact Alisson has back there when he returns
Posted on 7/28/19 at 12:11 pm to Tigerfan7218
Same back 4 started in the previous match.

Getting roasted on the edge by Insigne

We have absolutely not bite in attack... having the front three back will help the defense tremendously... They don't have to worry about us on that end of the pitch, really...

In defense of the defense, the Liverpool MF has been dominated today by the Napoli MF, so they ain't gettin' a lot of cover in front of them.

What a horrible match.
And the new Elliot kid really needs to change that hair.
Edit: At least the youngsters have been positive in this game.
Edit #2: I just don't see anything for Lallana on this squad. I really don't. But Kloppo seems to like him.

Despite the hair, thought Elliot had some good touches.
Disappointing result, but think I agree the MF got worked putting pressure on the back line. Once we get mo/mane/Bobby back, I’d expect that to change. Looked like the MF was struggling to connect with Origi/Gini/Ox.
Oh, and also agree about Lallana. Between Shaq, Keita, and some of these young guys I think we’re good. Let Lallana go.

Salah, Firmino, Alisson, Keita and Shaq all returned to training in Evian yesterday.
Praise jesus, inshallah, all that jazz.
We're really not signing anyone else, are we?

We have until August 8th if I'm not mistaken.
But things aren't looking positive in that regard IMO.

Max Cornet is the rumor of the day on the transfer front. One for the future but at least he’d make the bench

To some extent I understand the frustration with no incoming transfers, but what one position in the 11 could/would you want upgraded?
Posted on 7/30/19 at 4:59 pm to Zizzlefontain2
Why is Lallana still on the team?
Does he have a contract we cant move.
As they say in Texas, he just can't go

He’s a squad player that wouldn’t hurt you if you needed minutes or game somewhere along the way.
He probably would like more minutes somewhere else but the pay is good and Liverpool won’t give him away.

None, the problem is in some key spots we don't have enough depth, the starting XI can't play all the matches across all 4 competitions (or even the two main ones), and at positions like LB, RB, LW, RW (and maybe up front too) we don't have trustworthy guys who can take minutes off of our starters
Posted on 7/30/19 at 9:12 pm to Tigerfan7218
Exactly. It’s not the XI I’m worried about. TBH though as well as Matip played down the stretch, that’s still a position that could be upgraded. I know there are personal factors to worry about like wages, but De Ligt was being openly shopped around. Eriksen is going to let his contract run out at Tottenham. Koulibaly was there for the taking. I wish we would’ve capitalized on the momentum and swung our dick a little in the transfer market. Our stock is at an all time high. It’s tough, adding a quality player to come and sit the bench. Shaqiri was a great example of that player pool willing to do it. We are flushed with cash right now though and obviously need more depth in several areas. Fabinho played CB at one point last year and Gini played #9 at one point last year. I get that we aren’t oil rich, but we’ve been tight af this summer when there is a clear need for depth. My only hope is that we’ve already tapped up a big fish and are “saving” for him in 2020

Do you think someone starting at a top club is going to come sit the majority of matches? My only concern would be the front three but with Brewster and Origi along with lallana, Gini, ox and one of Wilson/Kent we can rotate some.
