Watching the highlights Elliot looked good and confident. Would like to start seeing him get some minutes as a sub for a front three to eventually spell them during a busy stretch (if he looks good)

The newest addition to my collection arrived today... man this thing is just so nice. Not a fan of the type of PL patch they put on it, but everything else is amazing

A guy I usually watch games with at the bar had one on this week and it looks even better IRL than in the stock photos. It’s too bad NB can’t meet the demand for the European stuff.

Not looking forward to the early kickoff on Saturday but the blades are an interesting enough challenge. Expecting a win but wouldn’t be surprised if they press extremely hard and get a goal or two.

Nike and NB are going to court fighting over Liverpool.

I'm curious how this is going to work out... Apparently Nike offered a deal that would set the bar in England, but NB decided to match that, but it seems like LFC wanted to go with Nike anyways...

If there's a "matching clause" in the NB contract, why would Nike not come back and up their offer a bit?

From what I have read, Liverpool chose Nike because they didn't consider NB's offer a "matching offer" due to NB's limited distribution network compared to Nike.

Now that seems to me to be some flaky, lawyerly-reasoning... saying a "matching" clause includes "distribution networks" without *specifically* saying so in the clause is kinda cheesy if you ask me.

If the "matching clause" specifically mentions distribution networks, then I'd say NB doesn't have a leg to stand on. If, however, Liverpool and Nike and their lawyers are stretching a point to contain something not specifically mentioned in the contract, then that's some cheesy lawyerly dancing and I hate that shite.

I mean phrased like that it seems shitty... but if they approached NB and said "hey, Nike says they can get us 'x,y,z' shipped worldwide with ### units available" and NB can't do the same, then I can buy that being a valid reason for it to not be a "matching" offer.

Moral of the story is, it's more than just what the company pays for it to be matching imo

I’d imagine it probably doesn’t matter, I honestly have no idea how this stuff works and I’m talking out of my arse but I’d deduce that the licensing fee alone isn’t the only piece of the “offer”. Nike can definitely make us more money and elevate our brand when you consider NB’s inability to meet demand for certain stuff. I love all of our NB kits and they’ve punched way above their weight considering how much training/fan/sideline/etc gear they’ve made us but I figure it’s time to move on if we can finagle it.

Paul Joyce is saying this.. which is probably why the global distribution is key... I also read it can be as much as 20% of all kit and LFC related sales... cold be huge £££

quote:

Liverpool’s proposed new kit deal with Nike would only be worth a guaranteed £30m-a-year. Royalties on top linked to distribution. Nike to use global non-football stars of the calibre of Serena Williams, Drake and LeBron James to promote it.

Also from Joyce, those others are saying the same thing...

quote:

EFL investigation into ineligible Liverpool player in Carabao Cup relates to Pedro Chirivella. He joined Extremadura on loan in January and case is over international clearance. Chirivella replaced Naby Keita after 63 minutes. Liverpool facing fine, but expulsion also an option.

Hopefully Klopp can serve double-espessos at the half because we have a lot of players that need to wake the hell up.
