So was it my imagination or were Sadio Mani and Xherdan Shaquiri playing a bit deeper and in more of an advanced midfield role last night than directly forward on the wing (though obviously they both were perfectly willing throughout the game to go forward and get into the box)?
Are Sadio and Shaq showing the flexibility to play last year's Oxlade-Chamberlain role in some formations?
Also, was it my imagination, considering how well Shaq looked at a bit of hold-up play, that he could sub for Bobby at the false-9?
Maybe I'm reading too much into a preseason match though.

Shaqiri was mainly playing through the middle...
Sadio, played where he normally does IMO, he has always drifted inside from the wing... There's been a lot of talk on various forums about him possibly moving into the #10 role... I dont think his final ball is quite where it needs to be to excel there..
Ive said it before, I wouldn't be surprised to see Salah/Shaq and Sadio playing 3 behind Bobby... probably very fluid.. With Keita and Fabinho in a double pivot (which is basically what they both played in, with their former clubs)
If Fekir comes.. even better and more depth...

No way Sadio moves out of that wing position. His speed to get in behind and play wide adds another dimension to the attack, but he’s just doing what he did late last year which is dropping inside and deeper to pick up the ball as well to help act as another playmaker like Coutinho did when he was playing on the left wing

I think he's just fine there too... He's obviously been given a lot of freedom to roam by Klopp...

Shaq will be this years Robbo. Steal of the transfer season for the entire league.
I highly doubt Fekir gets done. I don’t see us spending that kind of money on an injury concern.
I can see us going after another defender for depth. And that’s about it.
I bet they go after Pulisic in January. He will only have 18 months on his contract and his price could drop.

Looks like Woodburn is off to Aston Villa on loan...

Seems like there's as much substance as ever to reports of him possibly transferring (that said, not too much) but I still think he'll just stay at Dortmund for another year or so. A lot depends upon his play this year. Plus our midfield is way too congested to be adding a player like him that should be a first teamer, especially once Ox returns.
We're still connected to Vida, IDK if that will get done but it would be nice to add one more guy that could maybe compete with Lovren for a starting CB role.

Appears we accepted £3.5 million for Chirivella, from Rosenberg...
Fair enough... nowhere near good enough..
I keep seeing reports that CPFC has or will offer £20mm for Ings... yes, please!

I know I feel the same way but Matip is made of glass, we could use another CB for depth.
20 Mil for Ings would be awesome. Could help facilitate maybe one more decent purchase this window

I agree we need a CB, but buy someone that can be a starter next to VVD... not crap...

Not a lot of those type of guys availibe though, Godin maybe? I see a lot of rumblings about him but he’s 32 and I assume would be pricey

there is about 100 better than Lovren/Matip...
From Klopp's comments yesterday, maybe he's ready to put the trust in Gomez...

Who in their right mind would pay 20m for Ings?

They paid £30mm for Benteke...

I’d rather someone like Lascelles over Vida.

He's the one I have wanted all year... young, experienced, a captain and I dont think you'd have to break the bank... £30-35mm... just a guess..

I wouldn't want either... just hoping they buy him... Id be happy to just make back the £8mm he cost us...

Same, not our brightest moment in getting him
Also agree with whoever said that Klopp may be putting trust in Gomez at CB this season
I'd say I'd be okay with a back 4 of
TAA-Gomez-VVD-Robertson
Especially with Alisson and Fabinho around it
