Lastly, thought Alison learned his lesson on slow play out of the back. Almost got his pocket picked early on.
He did have one of those magical saves though. Although I don'y even think he saw it until it hit his hands.
To Bayern's credit, the defended phenomonally. Could have easily given up a few penalties with all the tight play in the box but they were all over everything.
It's a blessing Kimmich is out in the 2nd leg, he was arguably their best player. He had all of our forwards numbers the entire game 1 on 1.

Add VVD for Liverpool, subtract Kimmich from Bayern.
I like the math.

Looking like lovren will be out vs the mancs. Luckily getting VVD back and hope to see fab in the mf role.

Yeah obviously VVD is the most important piece of this team... Don't get me wrong Fab and Matip did a pretty good job Tuesday, but we just feel more solid withe VVD at the back

Not feeling great about the return leg. We play Burnley on the 10th and then basically have to shower and travel to Munich for a game on the 13th. We can't roll out a "b" team because we're in a title race, so a lot of the guys we play in Munich will have to play at Anfield. Short rest, travel, away form in Europe...It's just not ideal if we're being realistic. I think we're the better side but not scoring at Anfield doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies. We tend to have trouble breaking down talented sides that want to get guys behind the ball. I see no reason why they wouldn't do that and try to beat us on the counter with their wingers since they couldn't manage an away goal.

I think we're in great shape in both the EPL and the UCL. We've got fricking awesome trip to Old Trafford Sunday, then Watford on 3 days rest. A week later we go to Goodison for the derby, a week later we host Burnley, and then 3 days later we fly to Deutschland. 4 days after Munich we play Fulham, and then have a full 2 weeks rest before hosting Tottenham in one of the biggest games of the season. If this run of game doesn't get you pumped, nothing will. We've got the best defense in the premier league, and our attack STILL isn't in top gear.
Fabinho is imperious wherever we put him, Keita is rounding into form, Trent is back, Ox is nearly back and Joe will be hot on his heels.

Oh I’m pumped. We’re going to curbstomp the Mancs Sunday. It’s specifically the Bayern away leg I’m worried about.

Y’all will do no such curb stomping. Ole’s at the wheel!

This weekend suddenly turned into a pretty big opportunity

Milner at RB, not sure how to process that
Posted on 2/24/19 at 7:14 am to Zizzlefontain2
Ugh, I don't understand that..

Last time we faced them, Rashford owned TAA time and again throughout the entire 90 minutes. Looks to me like Klopp is opting for a more disciplined defensive presence there to hopefully stop some of that this time.
Posted on 2/24/19 at 7:17 am to beatbammer
yeah, but a lot of that had to do with Lovren and thankfully, he's not playing... Milner is so sloooooowww...
Posted on 2/24/19 at 7:22 am to TFTC
I would disagree that Milner is slow but absolutely agree that Rashford is much faster. TAA is faster than Milner but is still much slower than Rashford. So to stop him it all comes down to tactical defensive positioning which Klopp probably trusts cagey vet Milner over TAA.
I mean, we already know Rashford blows by TAA leaving a confused-looking Trent dashing to try and catch up with him because we already saw that in December.

I don't think Milner is very good defensively and he's not a RB!! Anyway, its what we have today and I hope he does a good job...
edit:Klopp on Milner selection: “Just because Trent was out for a while, played the last game and we have two games coming up.”

If only we had a capable back up RB in the squad that used to start for England... Oh right we loaned him out.
Still a dumb decision
But hey we have VVD back in there again, we got this

So yet again, where is the creativity in midfield going to come from?

Anyway, need to get a backup RB this summer...
I'd much rather Milner matching up against Mata..
But lets do this!!!
