To me there are only two GKs that would be homeruns.. and possibly gettable..

Oblak is #1 because he has a release clause, but it is steep...

Alisson may cost close to £50 but I would pay it... Roma are a selling club.. but he's been linked with RM and PSG...

Other than those two, any other keeper is a gamble or unattainable.. IMO

I hope PSG goes for Oblak and RM goes for De Gea... Hopefully, we get a free run at Alisson..

Danny Ward - either Klopp doesn't rate him currently or he's in his dog house... thats the only way I figure he hasn't received a shot yet..

As our future starter, I agree.

But within the scope of this past window, we absolutely shouldn't have continued with what we have. There was too much on the line this season.

Im probably being way too forgiving here... but I want to see Karius get a run of games and build some confidence and continuity with the back 4... VVD should help.. playing with that boob Lovren cant help any GK...

I can't blame him not being razor sharp when he gets a game every so often...

Maybe he can make a case to be a solid #2 or even more.. Migs can go this summer...

The Gunners may be in for a new #1 GK this summer... Cech is past it... Must not let them finish above us..

I guess I should have been clearer in my earlier posts. I feel a club the caliber of LFC cannot be starting Migs / Karius in goal. That's really the crux of it. He has Danny Ward, so he must not rate him. Then again I guess he doesn't rate any potential and available signings either, so I take your point. Its the same thing either way, we desperately need a new GK from within the club or from somewhere else.

100% agree. Spot on.

That is only one of the issues though. Just as big of a problem is having no viable backup to Firmino.

Honestly, and I'm not trying to make excuses for Klopp again, I don't know if there's a player in the world that is a "viable" backup to Bobby if by "viable" you mean "capable of doing all the things that Bobby does at or near the level that Bobby does them".

There may be players out there that can "viably" replace one of Bobby's many excellent qualities at a very high level and others at an "OK" level but (and I freely admit I may be prejudicially rating him higher than the rest of the world does) I don't think there's a player in the world, available or not available, that can do ALL the things that Bobby does so well at once.

I think Solanke *could* be that guy in the near future (and I again admit to possibly wearing Liverpool glasses here again), but he's definitely nowhere near that level yet. I think that he has the required skills, physicality, and mentality to perform that kind of role one day though.

I honestly dont think like for like is required... I'd like someone like a Werner who offers a totally different look at CF and can play off the last shoulder of the defense, with pace to burn... I really like Callum Wilson, as a cheaper option, if physios are convinced he's healthy...

I agree that it would be tough to find someone with all of Firmino's qualities... Thomas Muller may be the closest and well.. that aint happening!

Lol, start a thread about fans making fun of the chapecoense plane crash, and within 3 posts someone brings ups our fans singing about Munich like it somehow excuses this

By viable I just mean someone who is capable of emulating some of the qualities of Bobby. I honestly think there isn't another forward in the world that could fit in the role Firmino has on this team.

AFter reading over the posts form the last few days, all I can say is a few things -

This is the Liverpool thread, unless a Manc comes in, we should be be pretty civil and not harsh - no one here is doom and gloom - its just that the window leaves a LOT of risk on the health of a few people with three games a week (hopefully often if we progress through CL). Its quite a risk and "could" derail our season. Saying that there are problems or questions marks or risks about this isn't the same as saying we are going to suck.

GK is a must - but I do completely agree that I want Karius to get his shot first. We know Migs isn't good enough. Karius plays a different style, and we now have VVD. I want them to get 10-15 games to get fully acclimated before making a final decision - but my initial reaction is he's not good enough. I do feel that he hasn't had many chances - the goals have mostly been impossible to save. He also plays higher (and can sweep) and kicks better - so what that may mean is any improvement in our overall play is harder to quantify.

Origi - no thanks. I've said it before. But Solanke, despite his lack of a goal, slots in very well and the offense keeps clicking. Chances are still coming left and right - even if he doesn't convert his others are getting theirs. Origi is like a poacher without the poacher instincts. He stifles others. Just my opinion. Also, Origi is not very good presser. Yes, I'd rather a good back-up than two with huge questions, but Origi wasn't the answer.

Going to watch with the enemy today... If we lose it's going to be a long day for me and my wallet will be much lighter...

I am upbeat though... time for pay back!!!

Can Milner Hendo in the midfield. This should be interesting and fairly high energy...

TAA at right back for Gomez who is injured still.

Lovren's and VVD at CBs

Andy at LB.

Typical front three of Bobby/Mo/Sadio

So how come Dembele is allowed to just cynically kick Mane in the back of his legs and not even get a yellow card?

All in all a good half

Announcers are making it out to be that we are completely dominating which I'm not really seeing but still would say we've been better side

He hasn't been bad by any means but Firmino seems just a step off. And Salah has had a heavy touch a few times but his finish was clinical

Mane has gotten the ball in good positions but still having struggles in the final third

We need to get up 2-0 early in the 2nd half to give our defense some insurance
