Bye Phil...

Still stoked about our future and the players Klopp is bringing in...

I vote for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Riyad Mahrez

Amazing... £133.5mm profit... I hope we invest wisely this time.. I think we will..

The above post are who I'd like, but I wouldn't have a problem with Lemar at all...

Part of me says pay Oblak's buy out and still have over £50mm for a playmaker.. try to lure Ozil or go after Fekir at Lyon...

I wouldn't panic buy though, we have to replace Phil this window, but we dont have to spend it all..

Barcelona have put together a package worth a basic fee of £106m, plus a further £36m in variables of which £26m should be easily met. After the £105m basic, an additional £17m would be payable for the first 100 games Coutinho plays for Barcelona, £4.4m per 25 games. A further £4.4m would be paid for Champions League qualification in the first two seasons with a £4.4m bonus for winning the competition. Coutinho has agreed a five and a-half year deal worth £12.1m a season.

So are you guys over Mane? Or do you think Lemar/Mahrez are just going to come in and sit on the bench?
We've almost been playing a little variation of a 4-4-2 and a 4-3-3 making room for all 4 attackers, so no reason to think we wouldn't be able to do that with one of those guys. Not to mention how much Klopp has rotated guys in and out of the starting XI

I get what you're saying, but this is the first time in a while that we've had legit depth. We might be going a little overboard in some areas, but it's clear that Klopp wants us to be a very attacking side keeping teams on the back foot. It's worked for the most part, and if we clean up some of our mistakes, then we could be that much better

Yeah - I think it’s rotation/quality depth... + different looks

If we rest Salah, I don’t want to bring on youth or a Nathan Redmond type...

If we can keep qualifying for UCL, they’ll be plenty of matches..

Euro Papers: Philippe Coutinho pays £13m towards £142m transfer to Barcelona
Not the most reliable source, but Guillem Balague was reporting something similar. Obvious he didn't want to stay but damn

Klopp is such a class act

quote:

“It is with great reluctance that we – as a team and club – prepare to say farewell to a good friend, a wonderful person and a fantastic player in Philippe Coutinho.

“It is no secret that Philippe has wanted this move to happen since July, when Barcelona first made their interest known.

“Philippe was insistent with me, the owners and even his teammates this was a move he was desperate to make happen.

“Despite that, we managed to keep the player here beyond the summer window, hoping that we would be able to persuade him to stay and be part of what we are looking to do.

“I can tell the Liverpool supporters that we, as a club, have done everything within our means to convince Philippe that remaining part of LFC was as attractive as moving to Spain, but he is 100 per cent certain his future – and that of his family – belongs at Barcelona. It is his dream and I am now convinced there is nothing left at our disposal to change his mind.

“Philippe has made a fantastic contribution to this club over his five years of service and as disappointed as we are he doesn’t want to extend that, the relationship we have for him means with a heavy heart we wish him well.

“The player remained dedicated and committed to helping us win matches, producing good performances and training hard each day at Melwood after the summer window had closed, despite failing to convince us to allow him to leave during that period and that level of professionalism reflects positively on him.

“Of course, it is totally understandable that supporters will be disappointed; this is always the case when you have to say goodbye to someone special. But, as hard as it is sometimes to accept, it is part of life and part of football – individuals have their own dreams and their own goals and objectives in life.

“Players will come and players will go, that is football, but as a club we are big enough and strong enough to continue with our aggressive progression on the pitch, even when we lose an important player. We have never been in a better position in recent times, as a club, to react in the right way. We will use our size and strength to absorb moments like this and still move forward.

“I have been here long enough now to know in the history of Liverpool, key players have left before – but the club always goes on. You cannot transfer the heart and soul of Liverpool Football Club, although I am sure there are many clubs who would like to buy it.

“I have so much belief in the talent we have here already and even more faith, together with our owners, that we will make continued investment into the playing squad, which will allow more growth and more improvement.

“So as we bid farewell to Philippe, we continue on our path of progress and development as we work towards our common goal of bringing trophies back to Anfield.”

Bittersweet, because we’ve grown so attached to Phil.. but if we’re honest, this should make us stronger in the long run! That’s a shite load of dough and the right guy to spend it!!

This is what has me optimistic. No secret I'd love Lemar, but with his track record for us so far, I have faith it'll all work out

Coutinho was absolute class, but that's a shite ton of money for a guy that didn't want to be here.

That said, I hope we start turning this around of selling our top talent. I don't want to be a selling club, but I also don't want to keep guys against their will. Hopefully, we continue our upward trajectory and turn that perception around.

Or like I saw someone say on reddit, let's just buy up all the African talent, and we can turn into what the South Americans see in Barcelona having guys willing to pay transfer fees in order to come here

I think with Lemar at least, he would be a direct replacement for Phil as the #8 (who can play on the wing)... Naby our B2B... if we can get a top # 6...

Agreed. Gimme a creative player to replace Phil, a proper midfielder, and a GK.

Honestly, I love how Klopp has the right attitude and doesn’t let the business of football affect the way he sees his team and his efforts.

That being said, I am not Jurgen Klopp, so frick Phil Coutinho and I hope he crashes and burns in Barcelona. Take your wife, children, and fat frick of a brother and gtfo of Merseyside.

And frick Barca too. Maybe they were desperate to sign Coutinho before a signing ban comes down from Atleticos complaint. I hope for this too.

Phil won’t crash and burn, of course, and Barca likely will never be punished for their bullshite, but a man can still hope.
