Its in Liverpool’s own hands on European Anfield night.

Beat Spartak, win the group. No problem.

Ok, that 2nd half was horrible but let’s just finish this out and move on to the 16.

Just finished watching. Raise your hand if you saw that last goal coming....

We've still got a long way to go as far as just getting mentally tougher and knowing how to close out games. Classic Liverpool

Post Benitez.

Unreal how this has become our culture. We're like fricking Tottenham now or something, or have switched places with them since they hired Pinochio

I am totally biased due to my unrequited love for the man so I’ll pose this question to you gentlemen. Can Mascherano give us the defensive cover, toughness and leadership we are so sorely lacking at the back? It seems we are being given first right of refusal. At 33 does the old war horse have another year and a half he could give us? I don’t know how many more matches like Tuesday I can handle so I think I might be reaching here.

I am rooting like hell for Southampton to struggle from now until January. My thought is they would sell VVD in need of money for a striker to avoid relegation.

Really hoping we recover for Saturday. A win here puts us right in the thick of things for top 4.

I think VVD plus a quality GK, then adding Keita in the summer would fix almost everything defensively.

I think Mascherano would be a good short term option, but I'd rather us go get one of the (many) younger DMs out there... If he was super cheap, I wouldn't be opposed... though not as a make weight for Phil... that isn't a good enough sweeter IMO...

I'd like for us to bring in the following, in this order, to address defensive personnel...

1) LCB - obvious reasons
2) DM - Hendo is just not suited for this position against good competition

3) & 4) GK and RCB - Migs needs to be upgraded, though I haven't given up on Karius yet.. Matip is decent, but is always picking up knocks and we could use a mean SOB in the back line..

5) LB - further down my list because I think getting the other positions sorted would help this one enormously.. We've yet to see what Robertson can do with a long stretch of games, too..

I agree that Keita will help us defensively, but unless Klopp has something different in mind... he's not a DM.. He may choose to play him there though..

If we could somehow pull Goretzka, his work rate and defensive contributions are very good, too..

I just read a 1-0 Spartak Moscow win at Liverpool combined with a Sevilla win at Maribor, would put us in Europa... haven't really verified this..

I agree. I don’t hate Henderson and I think part of the problem is just the overall system not putting a ton of emphasis on compactness in the midfield and back line, but it’s hard to argue that a true destroyer would add more defensive cover that we need because our other two runners in midfield are likely to be more attack minded with Klopp

Well, hopefully Massimo Carrera doesn't announce he has cancer or anything. And we should be fine.

I had a fellow LFC fan in town from New Orleans, so we went to AJ Hudson's to watch... packed house...

Sucked to drop points on such a fluke goal.. Glad to see Albie rebound from the Sevilla match...

As much as I love Liverpool, as an Auburn fan I had more important distractions yesterday.

I read today where Klopp was pissed that the onfield official wouldn't allow him to sub in Lallana when he wanted to sub him in. Supposedly he was going to move to a 5-man backline (somehow) when Lallana was subbed in.

Four minutes after still attempting to get Lallana subbed in, Willan scored.

This was really a poor excuse from Klopp. He could have changed formation without the sub. Also, he should have used his bench sooner. It was obvious there were some tired legs upfront and in the midfield.
