The Charlie Davies injury fricking killed us. Did we ever hear who was at fault in that accident - his car or the other?

We have no other player who brings to the table what Charlie brought. The goal v's Brazil was just so tantalizing... and we had nothing that came close to that kind of quickness/speed/creativity after we lost him. Landon is close but he's more of a natural midfielder.

He was riding with a drunk chick who died in the accident. It was an immature move on his part, but hopefully he will be back sometime in the fall, close to 100% and treasure his opportunities.

Let's face it, Howard was in bad position for the first goal today, but it doesn't make him overrated and it doesn't mean he had a bad World Cup. The defense looked sketchy in every game and the strikers couldn't finish when they had golden opportunities. Complain about that before Timmy.

It does. That's the job description of a goalkeeper.

He shouldn't necessarily have saved the 1st or 2nd goal in particular, but lumped together he should have saved 1.

Keller would have saved 1. Keller DID save 1. Take any Keller game from 2002 and it was getter than any Howard game from this WC. Do you disagree with that? Maybe if you factor in the Algeria throw to Donovan that was superior to Keller v's Germany.

Which game did Keller play in the 2002 cup?

My bad yeah.

Still though the point stands that 2002 and 2006 we had more "wow" saves than we did this cup and a far fewer % of 50/50 chances found the back of the net against us in those 2 cups than this one.

Is Drew Brees overrated when he throws an incompletion? Jaysus. It's like the Rant in here today.

Howard did his job, and did it very well. The first Slovenian goal, the shot should have never happened, and he was screened by his CB which should have stepped up to prevent the shot. The first goal today he took a bad angle on, but the ball still got through the other 10 guys on the field.

One instance defines a player? In that case, Peyton Manning is way overrated for throwing that INT to Tracy Porter. You know, because the description of a quarterback is to not do that.

I thought he was soft on both goals today. He's only capable of a blank sheet against the likes of Algeria.

He's a solid keeper. But he is overrated. If he stops that first one, we are likely through. GREAT keepers do that for their teams.

We gave up 7 goals in 5 games in 2002 and 6 goals in 3 games in 2006. We gave up 5 in 4 games this year, with some atrocious defending. I know simple numbers don't mean everything, but lets not pretend that we just suffered some enormous drop off.

i'm sorry. i believe that the 2nd goal he sould've stopped, but great keepers have been made to look like fools that they are not this tourny. timmay is still top 5 for me

He shut out Spain last year. He may not have dominated, but let's not pretend he isn't capable.

I meant in the World Cup, not a prep tournament no one really cared about. I'm sure he's had plenty of shutouts in the Gold Cup, too. But he let us down in this tournament. 5 goals in 4 games, and only one of the 4 teams ranked in the Top 32?
Not good enough for me.

I'm very confident Spain cares. They were playing for the longest ever winning streak. I think they would have cared if it was a friendly vs Barbados.
