Well I know Gordon could help us with his toughness and may score a header, but I think Agudelo would have been a better choice.
That said, maybe Gordon has some qualities I'm overlooking.

inb4swagudelogotrobbed.... People forget Swagudelo can disappear quite often, but always has a moment of brilliance that suddenly appears. Gordon sure is less talented, but you know he will hustle to whatever he is supposed to do. I'm okay with that pick.

Corona will play on one side of the diamond.
If he replaces Chandler at RB with Johnson and puts Beasley at LB, I guess it makes sense.

No matter how hard Beasley tries to retire from international soccer, he will continue to be brought in, and I love it.

Gordon never stops running. He's got a very high work rate defensively, and as mentioned already he's a tall dude that can win a header in the box.
Between Zardes, Deuce, Bacon, and Wondo I don't expect Gordon to actually play unless we need a goal to equalize in the 80th minute or later

I'm upset besler wasn't included, though not as upset as I am that Alvarado and Chandler are still on the roster. I wish garza could have stuck around as well.

It really is baffling that chandler is still playing. Plenty of people can play at LM and allow FJ to play RM or him play RB with yedlin at RM.
