Yes. It's precisely the antics of everyone on the team working harder to get a red card on the other side than play the game that has so many neutral observers getting so sick of Barca...

I understand WHY they do it: they're small and the more their opponents must fear a likely red card instead of a yellow for a mis-timed tackle it's a HUGE advantage to Barca.

In La Liga play, they don't do this as much because they don't have to. They're just that much better than everyone else and when that's not enough they already get those calls anyway.

Again. It's clear as day why Barca uses this strategy but that doesn't mean it's not embarrassing that EVERY time we see Barca play a huge CL match there's the same faking getting hit in head, faking degrees of injuries, all 11 players in the refs face constantly.

And it works! Against Real, Arsenal, Inter, Chelsea there's ALWAYS a questionable to highly questionable call that goes their way and often determines the match more than anything they do on the pitch.

Real and Inter have much much more of their share of BS but it's just all the old fashioned shite that everyone does.

Barca's full-on 90 minute, all 11 in, whine fests just seems a level apart. Though perhaps, I have this impression because it's only for Barca recently that these tactics always decide matches.

he shouldn't have to worry about a situation like that. dani alves very well could have pulled out of that challenge, but alves shouldn't have to do that either

I will say it one more time. I don't give a frick whether it was Real or Barca doing that shite. It needs to stop. All of the combined simulations, foul hunting, ref crowding, etc made that an abortion of a game.

Pepe didn't even contact Alves' leg.

Wow.

I used to like Barca (and still like messi, villa to some extent, puyol, xavi) but now both of these teams are pretty much dead to me.

Yes he did.
Unless somehow my DVR footage of it from the broadcast is doctored and this footage is the real thing.
Is that their official site? That's sad.

Are we supposed to believe that Dani Alves did that mid-air spin on his own?

agree

per uway
quote:

Alves does flop, but he didn't flop on that red, unless you count rolling on the ground afterward as flopping. Pepe kicked straight through his leg. Do y'all really think Alves could do that mid-air 360 on his own?

Apparently he can do midair 360s on his own.

And when I said abortion, I meant abortion. A UCL semifinal between two of the biggest teams in the world, so much potential there for a great game. No, the diving and playacting acted as the wire coat hanger in the hands of the third world doctor in a back alley aborting all that potential while scarring the game forever. Like I said, I hope man u skull fricks whoever wins in the final.
