As long as Arsène is at the helm, Arsenal is going to be a fun team to play on FIFA but still terribly frustrating to watch.

Update
From Ornstein (BBC)
quote:

Hearing whispers (nothing concrete) Arsenal have been exploring possibility of signing David Luiz from Chelsea as part of Giroud deal - as per @DavidWoodsStar yesterday - or Roma’s Kostas Manolas. Would be one or other, no idea if it will happen. Defence a clear concern #AFC #CFC

Would be extremely ecstatic with either. Especially Luiz.

Luiz at CDM? I'm not opposed to trying this. Or do we go back to a 3 man backline?

Give me the younger player with more upside in Manolas.

Luiz at DM. Let him drop back with the CB's when the full backs go forward. It'd work really well imo. Plus he can head and take free kicks lol

It'd also show Xhaka that he has to get his shite together or he no longer plays. It'd be good for everyone involved.

I don't see how playing Wilshere and Ramsey together is any worse than playing Xhaka at all. Dude could be a great DLP except his decision making.

Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, but did we choose Xhaka over Kante? Or did we go after Xhaka after Chelsea got Kante. I think the team would be completely different with just Kante in that role.

We need an elite defensive midfielder.

If Luiz happens, could he play DM or is he CB for sure? I know he's done it before.

God damn. This one hurts more than Sanchez. I loved Giroud. His play with his back toward goal was insane. If only he could have finished 5% percent more, especially those easy chances.

In a way, I am happy he is going now. This Arsenal team isn't going to accomplish anything this year, with or without Giroud. He spent so much time here getting hated unnecessarily, and he was only truly appreciated the last year or so by the fans. I am glad he is leaving during a time when the fans will miss him. He will be embraced when he returns to the Emirates and he will get a chance to earn his WC spot.

I get that he missed chances, but he still was one of the more well rounded cfs out there. He was mr consistent and only had one stretch of being injured.

he may have never had as a good of season as like a diego costa, but he also never had one as bad as him.

Hes getting older anyway and we did him a disservice keeping him in the summer and not playing him.

Looks like we resigned ozil and I think that was extremely important for the future regardless of how long wenger stays.

Its not a top trophy, but beating chelsea and city to win it would be very satisfying. Dont give a frick what any one says.

y general mood about this season and the future under Wenger still sucks, but damn if we haven't finally started making some "big club" moves the past couple years. Very excited about Auba and maybe even more excited about the club loosening the purse strings to put a star player like Özil on those kinda wages and hold onto him.

This is why i feel like we are finally moving on. These deals we have been doing seem so diff than what we have done under wenger in the past. They are finally loosening up his grip on the club.

Now i may be totally wrong and Wenger never had the full support in years past. but i still have to believe Arsene was behind a lot of the botched signings or no signings or good players bolting.

We should have sold him in the summer, yes. But damn I don't think we will find anyone who can link against the low block as well as Giroud. How many goals came from his deft little flicks? His hold-up play is elite, and gives him a shelf life longer than most other players. I'm disappointed we never gave him a chance with Lacazette.

this is a positive I can take away from this window. It does seem like the board are taking power from Arsene, and genuinely preparing for life without him

I've never understood why Wenger always tried to choose other options over Giroud. That's been going on for years. All he does is score goals, he's been in top 5-7 every year it seems like.
