Oh well. No shame going out to Athletico. Very good team. Let's move forward with our new manager. It does suck not sending Wenger out with a trophy. Hopefully Mustafi doesn't play anymore in the league. Let the youngsters show what they have plus Mustafi is just crap.

Well, now begins a long 3.5 months of soccer I have no rooting interest in.

Team didnt give up, but so ready for something diff. give away goals way too easily, rarely take chances given to us.

Arsenal could have easily put this to bed last week.

Two defensive lapses led to their two goals. We really need to shore up our defending next year. I didn't have much faith heading into the match today, so I'm not terribly disappointed. We blew our chance in the first leg.

Does 6th in the league automatically qualify for Europa? And does 7th get a qualification round?

5th place automatically qualifies. Sixth place has a play-in, as far as I understand it.
quote:

The team placed fifth in the Premier League automatically qualifies for the UEFA Europa League, and the sixth and seventh-placed teams can also qualify, depending on the winners of the two domestic cup competitions i.e. the FA Cup and the EFL Cup. Two Europa League places are reserved for the winners of each tournament; if the winner of either the FA Cup or EFL Cup qualifies for the Champions League, then that place will go to the next-best placed finisher in the Premier League.

Rather finish out of Europa and focus on PL Chelsea style.

Confirmed that Laurent Koscielny tore his Achilles tendon.

May be the last game we have seen Kos play for Arsenal.

Yep really doubt Kos comes back from this one... Sad but he was on the way out anyways. Now time to go buy a defender and have one of the youngsters step up.

We have to buy 2 defenders. None of the younger guys are ready to start if we want top 4. Relying on one of them to be a full time starter is a gamble. We would be one injury away from starting 2 inexpierenced defenders. What we should do is splash the cash on a stud CB and then try to find an older and more experienced CB on the cheap.

Yes, this coupled with giving Simeone everything he desires to move to London.

Gabriel would have been far better option then any other defender we have at the moment...

I would trade Mustafi for Gab in a second. Heard Gab has had a very strong season this year. Always liked his passion and toughness. Two qualities we could surely use right now.

Looks like he's played 35 games for Valencia, on his debut they tied Athletico 0-0.

I’d be fine with Simeone. I’d be fine with any established winning manager from the top European leagues who knows what it is to win cups.

I would NOT be fine with names being mentioned for whom Arsenal would be on-the-job training.

I'm not really worried about the attack going forward next season. Do want cover in some areas. Completely new starters at defensive mid, 2 center backs, and keeper. Highly doubt they go after all 4 positions. Some are so glaring even Arsenal can't ignore, center back especially.

BFG!!!

Actually think Chambers is ready to take one of the cb spots for next season.

One thing we tend to overlook is the need for a rb. We've kind of rode with guys that shouldn't be over there to spell bellerin.
