How much do y'all think a fully fit/inform Ozvaldo Alonso would benefit this midfield?

I'm sure he'd make a great left mid.

I'm going to really start judging Klinsmann and this team by their Gold Cup performance this summer. I don't know wtf he's doing right now, and I agree that it's frustrating. But I suppose I'll give him the benefit of the doubt off the back of the WC and see how we look in the next competitive set of matches.

Alejandro Bedoya as a 6 is just stupid. I don't know what else I can say.

Of all the post-WC decisions that have been made, that's the most baffling.

We can't hold position or even build an attack b/c guys like Zardes and Shea have a horrible first touch. You play them a ball to their feet and a defender is applying minimal pressure and the ball goes sailing.

ETA: Shea IMO didn't look horrible yesterday.

Way too much teeth gnashing for a meaningless friendly. Always judge by official competitions, never friendlies.

Brek Shea makes me believe I could play for the USMNT, and I fricking suck at soccer.

I hate that the board hates Shea. I've always been a fan, I don't think he's really as bad as everyone make's him out to be. The guy won the Gold Cup for us last time around, give him a shred of respect.

If you take every attribute that I like in a quality player and think of the exact opposite, then that is Brek Shea. He was certainly intriguing because of his size, but I hate his touch and he is so slow.

It looks like you misspelled Landon Donovan.

I don't hate Shea. I can't necessarily hate a player if I don't feel like he should be on the pitch. His first touch is so bad, but he does a pretty decent job with crosses every now and then and does an ok job coming up the left side. If he's the best we have that isn't on him, that's on our development.

Eta: and just because I don't hate him, it doesn't mean I still don't think he's piss poor at football.

I don't hate Shea at all. I think he's faster than people give him credit for - he just looks slow as hell because he takes long strides.

I don't know how tactically astute he is (not that tactical ability is important to Klinsmann), and I don't think his fitness is anywhere near where it needs to be, especially as an international player. It seems like that's been a recurring theme throughout his career, so I don't think it's reasonable to expect it to improve. He's pretty much late 2000s Eddie Johnson right now.

Also, he does what I do in games - try tricks, stepovers, stop and gos, .... and fails at 9 out of every 10 - but since one worked, it makes sense to keep doing them.

All that said, there is a place for him. In a ragged, end to end, 2-2 game where everyone is gassed - there are few players in the pool that I'd rather bring on for the last 15 minutes than Shea.

This... I do not get JK's infatuation with Bradley at the #10 roll. I had a big discussion with someone about MB's roll in the last WC. He was incessant that MB played the roll well and even showed some fancy stats that supported his arguement. I do not buy it. MB plays better oout of the #8 roll IMHO.
