My god dude. I'm begging you to understand that the fact of what happened to Leeds is an argument against further consolidation. He's not a hypocrite, and even if he was, he's right.

Long term the goal is most likely one big european league.
Not just a side competition.
And it's a poor decision.

You can still do a salary cap. I just see this as moving to american model.
I dont like this, i like the set up being diff than US sports, but im not losing my shite over something I cant change. And yes, football is corrupt as shite already. Im not going to stop watching over this, and i would bet most that are invested in the game wont either, or they will just watch the lower leagues.
Like the people that feel so strongly against this are not going to watch? And not going to turn on the world cup right?

Why would La liga or bundesliga give a flying frick about any of this?
When they leave the remaining 17+ won't have a prayer of maintaining their current caliber of side because their future TV deals will be comparatively dogshit.
Agreed, why would La Liga give a flying frick?
Dumbass.

Ive only seen their name so i used them. And im going to go out on a limb and say they expect that $5 billion to come back to them.
Or do you think they are just handing out money for free?

A wildly terrible model which only exists because of some anti-trust exemptions.

I'm not going to watch. It will be incredibly easy to avoid.

fricking dumbass.
Im saying those teams dont make the champions league anyway. They arent being left out in that way. Real and Barca arent leaving la liga tomorrow, calm down.
I already pointed out the ultimate goal will probably be a super league league, not just a tournament. But what do you expect? Soccer hasnt reached is full monetary potential. you arent going to stop change.

Did these clubs handle it well when they got the Sky money? I can't wait to see what shite player they will want to pass off as worth something. These ghouls are just gonna get worked by Perez, who is the only competent executive among them, until he retires.

Ok, i'll make sure to hold you to that if you post in the Arsenal thread next season.

Do you understand why?

We don't need a continental league. In fact we already have one, with robust mechanisms in place to produce some wildly entertaining moments. Why we need to upend this to support a bunch of billionaire dumbasses who couldn't tell you that Granit Xhaka can't turn to his right is beyond me. And also, in order to reach the full monetary potential, we can't invest in the proven models which produce good players. We have to give more money to big clubs, only a handful of which have something resembling a decent youth system.
Again, this is a race to the bottom, and it seems like you either want everything to be made worse, or you can't imagine the rich having just a little less power.

I’m not happy about it
If they kick these teams out of their domestic leagues(don’t think they will), but I’ll watch

My hope is that the UK government makes it unviable, and Kroneke has to sell. No Arsenal fan should forgive what he did to Wenger.

Im not really sure what a club like Arsneal overpaying for a player has anything to do with sky thinking they made a good investment by purchasing rights to broadcast a sports league on their channel.
I like the way things are, but ive seen so many people flying off the handle at this shite like its the end of football.

quote:A) They aren't throwing any substantive coin out in the absence of signed TV deals that would significantly derisk their investment. A $5B wire doesn't magically go out one day, there's plenty of structure to disbursements.

B) They are not at-risk for the full $5B. This is debt loaded with recourse and there won't be any way out for the clubs beyond making them whole. JPM will get their money back or they will put these clubs in administration.
C) $5B, even if they were sole underwiter, is nowhere close to "the farm" for an institution like JPM

I'd wager that most of them will still produce players far more capable than the average graduate from the 'big six clubs, who have very little pedigree with regards to youth, except for Man U and Arsenal, at times. They will do that by retaining the competitive structure that produced so many amazing players.

I'm asking whether more money will actually solve their sporting problems. There is an answer to this, but you probably won't like it.
