I heard that’s fake

Sure that’s what’s being put out there. But sacking him less than a week from a Cup Final seems to make absolutely NO SENSE. Of course, this IS Daniel Levy that we’re talking about. But I don’t buy that the sacking was solely based on match results. If that’s the case, he should have been gone weeks, maybe even months ago.

Based on the selective outrage being promoted by the media it would not be a surprise to learn most don’t like it. That’s all people hear. Not exactly the full story.

Well, when Gary Neville is against it, and was the first one to suggest to expel the six clubs, that serves as a pretty accurate bellwether of the mood in English football circles, who already resent the "Americanization" of the game.

And if we don’t even know the ramifications and if clubs will continue to play domestically then how can anyone even have an informed opinion?

What does it matter? The blowback is going to be massive.

I’m just not seeing enough to justify this irrational outrage. Seems inorganic.

It seems like pretty organic outrage. Like the Man U Supporters Trust said, Matt Busby brought that team into Europe, and the events of '58 made the modern club. As one Man U supporter pointed out, a Man U team died for the chance to play in Europe. It's a massive deal to the local fans in England.

I just don’t think any manager would do this right now, especially when they realize they’re going to get paid even more
Sure we can all say “for the good of the game” but these guys are all like us, and just care about making more money too

Yeah, every week getting to watch your team play one of the worlds biggest and best....oh no that sounds horrible!!! you’re ruining soccer by getting the best teams to play each other!!!

Oh yeah, we get to watch 5 or so teams that have been awful for either their entire history (like Tottenham) or the last decade (like Milan, Arsenal, and Man U) get the shite kicked out of them by Madrid. This is stuff you can't get anywhere else.

Well this is just false.
Hell, Spurs were the first English team to win a European cup.

And they've also sucked for a long time in league play. Arsenal nor Tottenham don't deserve to be included with European giants if results matter. Nottingham Forest has a richer European history than both clubs.

That was mostly from how it was implemented than the change itself. Looking back they should have made those changes at the youth and academy levels years before they implemented at the higher level.

It really isn't slander if it's true. I mean, Arsenal have been piss-poor in Europe. Why the frick are they included? 6 of the 12 clubs included in this 'super' league haven't won a league title since 2014, much less competed on the European stage this decade. It should be embarrassing for them, but who knows what these owners are thinking.

Like I said, Madrid (and likely the Spanish teams) are going to kick the shite out of anyone in this league, save for any team Pep or Klopp coach.

Because it’s all based on how valuable the team is monetarily
This is what happens when Americans own teams

If you are referring to the offside rule change, no it wasn't the implementation, it was the rule. That a player, who wasn't the target of a pass, could still be onside despite only one player being between them and the goal, was a revolutionary change. It destroyed the ability of a 2-man midfield to control the game, it destroyed the ability of less-talented teams to play the compact, high block, and it forced defenses to drop as deep as the furtherest forward offensive player, which moved space from behind the defense to in front of the defense. That change necessitated 3-man midfields, which were not in vogue in England, and it was no surprise the teams with superb deep-lying playmakers saw massive success in the international stage. It took a long for English teams to understand how to set-up a 3 man midfield, and it destroyed the ability of English teams to overpower continental opponents. Arsenal is actually one of the best case-studies, though Wenger was significantly better at setting up a 3-man midfield than other managers. Arsenal went from a very compact 4-4-2 predicated on the ability of the midfield two to win the ball back and drive up field quickly to becoming a pensive 3 man midfield team, with all sorts of little tricks set into the formation to provide the pivot or double pivot with support.

The 2005 offside rule paved the way for the possession game that favored the Dutch and Spanish styles. Eventually teams caught up, like that amazing 2012 Bayern Munich team, who had the ability to possess the ball but also the ability to break at speed. Just an amazing team that combined technical and athletic prowess.

None of the Americans are responsible for building the clubs they own, unfortunately. Abramovich and Mansour have had far more impact than American owners.

It doesn’t matter
They own them now and this is what they’re doing
Even though it’s highly unlikely that any of these 6 teams get relegated, they want a “guaranteed payday” just like American professional sports

I will not at all be shocked if they put in a salary cap, and make playoffs as well for this league.
That is of course if they get kicked out of their domestic leagues (which I have a tough time believing will happen)

I always fall for the little shithouses

Samu Saiz for instance. He was a different class until midway through Bielsa’s first season when he decided “frick this shite I don’t feel like pressing anymore”

You can count on one hand the teams that have had a fan stabbed by a Galatasaray ultra during a magical UEFA Cup night. That's the real silverware.
