That is the current plan - this super league just replaces the champions league for those teams

That’s what I think it will be

I don’t think they’ll go that far

There’s no point in watching this garbage. I can turn on the NFL if I want to watch a sport with no incentive to do well after the first 5 games.

I think they’re really going to Americanize this league
And put playoffs in it

Crazy how one sided the opinions are on this. Literally everyone hates it and the networks are not presenting anything to balance the outrage. It’s all histrionics and pearl clutching. “This will ruin soccer. My dreams are crushed. Think of the children!”

People who are in the countries themselves have a massive attachment to the club. They grew up around the club. They are literally neighborhood teams. It is happenstance that some of the clubs became international teams with international audiences, but that doesn't change the nature of supporters in England.

I haven’t made up my mind on this but the outspoken critics seem to be powerful people upset because they are losing power so they blame other powerful people of being too focused on power.

Can anyone confirm or deny that the Super League clubs will remain in their respective in-country leagues?

Meaning would ManU and Arsenal no longer play in EPL after joining SL?

I find this highly unlikely. TO ME...it seems these teams are looking to cash in on their popularity playing a season amongst each other as well as in their domestic leagues.

So it's more detrimental to the UCL instead of the domestic leagues.

Yeah the downside of this league having lots of money but with no relegation is that we already certain ownership groups operate under a similar model, where they act exactly like you would expect.

The early 2000s Premier League All-a-hole team was real stacked, especially if you go retroactive and include some players who turned out to be awful

Was Robbie Savage awful? I honestly can't remember.

I get that but help me understand why they wouldn’t want to see their club play against the biggest and best clubs every week? I understand it if they are not going to be playing domestically anymore but if that is not the case, I don’t believe fir a second that’s it universally hated by the fans.

I find that hard to believe but I am admittedly not very knowledgeable on this or the soccer community.

How I see it

It's all pearl clutching histrionics primarily from powerful people who truly only care about keeping as much power as possible. They don't give a shite about the game or anything like that. It's just money and power

Breaking now: The 14 other premier league clubs will be meeting tomorrow morning regarding this. They are excluding the six in these meetings.

There are lots of reasons. European nights are highly regarded, but it wouldn't be the same knowing Pool play Madrid every season, or Man U play AC Milan. It will take a long time for league play to develop the same immediate contextual impact, or for fans to find meaning in it. And it is really hard for me to believe that Arsenal, Tottenham, Man U, and AC Milan, among others, deserve to be in a league with the best teams in Europe.

I suggest you do your own research, but I haven't seen one fan on the internet support this. All the various supporters trusts have come out against this, with the Man U Supporters Trust statement quite moving. The backlash to this is going to be severe, especially since it doesn't start for a few seasons.

Two distinct things can be true, that certain powerful people are against this and that it is a massively unpopular move. I suggest you watch Gary Neville's take on this, because his reaction is a good baseline on how people in football circles feel.

Based on the selective outrage being promoted by the media it would not be a surprise to learn most don’t like it. That’s all people hear. Not exactly the full story.

And if we don’t even know the ramifications and if clubs will continue to play domestically then how can anyone even have an informed opinion?

You are probably correct in everything you say, I’m certainly not qualified to say either way. I’m just not seeing enough to justify this irrational outrage. Seems inorganic.

How are Liverpool playing today if they technically left the PL yesterday? Will the remaining PL clubs vote to bring in another six to replace who left?

I don’t think the two need to be mutually exclusive.

I hate the UEFA cartel as much as I hate this. Change must happen, but this is most certainly not the way to do it. You’re robbing Peter to pay Paul.
