Quite frankly, his bullshite statement and the statements from the Uruguayan federation make me want the punishment to be more severe.

They are pissing on everyone's leg and telling them it's raining.

now they are saying the pictures were photoshopped???

He will get yet another. He isnt going to get a lifetime ban.

Will you be able to handle that?

Interesting. I was under the impression they can as the world governing body. I know Gab Marcotti believes they can, and I consider him pretty knowledgable on the process. Do you have a link or something?

ETA: This was in response to Meursault not SCH.

They have the power but have never used it. It is uncharted waters.

I have heard a few say they can, but they would be really surprised if they did...

From the FA's, Lord Taylor

quote:

"They've circled the wagons around him before and I would expect them to do the same. I've not known FIFA to impose a domestic ban as well as an international ban unless it was related to an infringement for drugs. They do have that power."

Yeah, I don't think it's expected that they will use the power but that they could.

Only if the FA and UEFA request it, and only if the infringement is considered serious enough. From the FIFA language
quote:

"doping, unlawfully influencing match results, misconduct against match officials, forgery and falsification or violation of the rules governing age limits"

FA and UEFA would have to apply individually to FIFA for this request, and even then it would be under FIFA jursidiction to accept.

I doubt FIFA does it by themselves.

It will certainly depend on whether the FA and/or UEFA send FIFA a "request" to extend the punishment to their matches.

The more I think about it, right or wrong, I kind of doubt UEFA or the FA will want Suarez playing in at least their opening matches.

I honestly think it should be the WC... he will be devastated.. a few games after doesn't really matter so, past that the only real weight would be if they made it for a year, he would most likely miss the Copa America and again be devastated.. I guarantee he loves country more than club..

I would think thats harsh, but ultimately the blame would be with him..

I don't think LFC should be punished and hopefully there will be no precedence set by FIFA..

So if the FA wants punishment, they would have to go through UEFA to FIFA? Can the FA act on its own to punish a player for misconduct at the WC?

Its fairly confusing. I have read so many opinions and they are all over the spectrum. I dont think anyone really knows.

I don't think he gets it which is clear from his statement and then his lawyers statement. He thinks he did no wrong(victim) and is basically provoking FIFA

Are you going to catch Roma/LFC in Boston or are they coming your way?

I gotta call from someone at Fenway asking if I wanted to buy tix again, but told them I was going to Chicago to see them...

I'd really love to see them again in Boston, but don't think I can swing it with my schedule

Everything being reported(Sky,BBC etc) is FIFA can lay the hammer and it can enforce it at the club level.

Also will be interesting if he breached any player conduct clauses in his new contract at LFC. B/c this clearly has a negative effect on club as well.

I don't think so and by Lord taylor's comments, it doesn't sound like it is something they are considering...

Now, if FIFA approaches them about it, who knows... but thats a slippery slope I doubt they want to go down..

I don't know. He's mental, but I'm not sure he's that dumb. He has to know he screwed up and is just going with the deny til the end mentality because he knows he could potentially never have the chance to represent his country again, which I think would destroy him.

Not to say that it's the right thing to do. Just trying to get inside his mind.

That Boston match was great although I arrived really late after having to drive up after an appointment that morning.

Unfortunately, I'm going to be in the south during July. I have to go to Pensacola where my mom lives to help her with some things. May get a chance to finally watch some match at Finn's after all the talk on here for years though. Definitely have a record shopping trip to New Orleans planned.

I'm only going to be able to go to the Roma Ac Milan friendly in Philadelphia.
