Essentially, because of some stupid crazy rule, one team had to score on itself to have a chance to advance and then had to defend the other team from scoring on itself.

My friends and I do this a lot when we bet $/drinks that we will win by more than one goal in FIFA. Gotta get that own goal for a chance at more goals in extra time.

This made me look up crazy soccer games. Some team beat another team 149-0 completely off own goals. It was a protest though.

Pure genius from the coach and the opposing player who immediately knew what that he needed to take it to his goals and score. Would have been hilarious if he got tackled by his own teammates before it was explained to them wtf was going on
