Yea I've never quite understood how they got soccer from that. Soccer was actually big in the north east in the US in the early 1900s. Professional leagues actually existed. I guess they'd be semi pro by today's standards. But regardless, soccer almost completely disappeared from the early 1900s until the 1950s in the US, so it makes sense "soccer" kinda stuck here when it didn't much of anywhere else.
