yeah, I felt this was the biggest reason for us being gassed. we'd have been gassed anywhere that particular game was being played.
the hammy stuff is just a freak thing. heat had nothing to do with it, though we can all speculate as to why they happened. truth is, it probably was just a shitty, unlucky thing that happens sometimes which probably couldn't have been avoided.

His standard is not to overwork players. When he first took over yes he had to b/c he said the overall fitness of our players was lacking. But now thats not the case. This wasn't a fresh out of offseason camp. The MLS guys need a little work but nothing extreme.

If that is what you got from watching last night then i don't know what to tell you. We never had enough possession to push the ball up the field. Possession wise Ghana killed us in the midfield and our forwards never had time on the ball. Our defense played well and kept Ghana from having a lot of good chances on goal. But outside of that and the fact that we won, the game was kind of rough.

Exactly why im saying perceived advantage people thought we would have in these conditions really isn't there. Hopefully we acclimate faster than the other teams.

I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that the team was overworked. Two a days for most of the camp, and Klinsmann's penchant for focusing too much on fitness (and then seeing muscle pulls happening left and right) certainly make that believable.
That said, it's completely unreasonable to believe we were intentionally sitting on the lead. We had the game dictated to us, and responded as best we could.

That thread was stupid for two main reasons:
1. It assumed that all Americans are used to South Louisiana weather
2. It forgot that Portugal still owns Madeira and the Azores. They might not be the Atchafalaya, but it's not like the Portuguese have never been in heat or humidity before.

that early goal was great, but at the same time it put ghana into super push mode. we tried to sit back and counter. we just didn't have the midfield (or when jozy went out, the holdup play up top) to bust them. we almost did a few times
running around trying to bunker with 2 forwards just wore us down. we also lost 2 subs due to injury (hammy pulls have nothing to do with the heat)

Klinsmann has put himself in a bit of a pickle with roster selection, and he might have overworked them in camp, but he definitely didn't choose to "sit on the lead" last night.
To respond to the OP, who knows if it WILL play to our advantage. It didn't last night, but I think most teams would have wilted under sustained pressure from a side as physically gifted as Ghana is.
That said, we could have had more possession and more rest had we been smarter with the ball.
