I think I'm gonna start watching the EPL more, so I need a team. It's between Chelsea, City (only because I hate manU), or maybe Everton (USMNT connections)

I know there has been a few of these type threads recently, so I apologize if it bothers you.

Welcome aboard!! I would encourage you to watch a few games for a couple of weekends and see which team is more interesting to you!

BTW:
Man City = da bomb

You're Welcome

But seriously, if you're interested in City and hate ManU, you need to watch this documentary. Blue Moon Rising

I watched it and almost became a City fan. ALMOST.

No one ACTUALLY liked city until Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan bought the club. Being that they are Man United's main rival didn't hurt either.

At least that's my story.

OMG do you want to support the Yankees of the BPL??!?!?!

You'll regret this one...and I'm not just saying that as a Liverpool fan. They have shown almost zero commitment to improving while several teams around them are doing everything possible to gain an advantage.

City

You will have fun following them. They will either continue to spend at astounding levels and compete with Barca and Real for top club in the world, or skyrocket to the top and crash and burn because they have no foundation. If UEFA ever grows a pair and enforces the Financial Fairplay restrictions, they resort to a mid table side (or worse). Either way, it should be fun to watch.

Chelsea

I'm not convinced they won't beat our City for the league title by May. Not a bad club to pick if you're just starting. Tons of money, a good mix of established world class players and young stars, a charismatic young manager, always on tv, great London rivalries...of course, the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge may be the worst in the PL, but if you don't have any immediate plans to cross the pond I guess it doesn't really matter.

I think I may take some time and put together an inclusive thread about selecting a PL team...we seem to get a lot of new fans and it could be fun to do.

Financial fair play will be the death of many big teams, I think. If you have to only spend what you make, that means teams can't plunge themselves into debt in order to buy players (here's to you, Barca, Real Madrid, and ManU). I'm not sure if this affects teams being bankrolled by oil billionaires, though.

My advice to you is to avoid picking a team until you've followed the league for a while. You'll naturally start to like/dislike certain teams, and then you can go from there.

Also, don't pick Chelsea.

I liked City before then FWIW. Granted it was for a totally stupid reason...but I still liked them.

If you are speaking in terms of tradition and winning then yeh, Man U would be the yankees.

If you are speaking about straight up ASSRAPING the market via piles and piles of cash, City would be the team.

I like these threads, but it seems like they always end up support Arsenal or Liverpool.

Be different. Support the Wolves!

Also, it would be pretty badass if you liked a team like Crystal Palace or Nottingham Forest and if or when they made it to the Premier League, it would be amazing.

Nothing like jumping on the two teams up top with the deepest pockets... Or maybe you just like the color blue...

I say go with Everton...

Actually, I like Chelsea because I like their jerseys and Drogba is one of my favorite players. I like City because I despise manU. I have no idea who spends and who doesn't.
