And, speaking to reporters from Swiss TV station RTS in Lausanne, Blatter has conceded that, in hindsight, awarding the showpiece event to Qatar was an error.
"Yes of course, you know everyone makes mistakes in life," he told reporters when asked if it was a mistake choosing Qatar due to high temperatures in the summer months.
"The technical report into Qatar said clearly it was too hot but the executive committee - with a large majority - decided all the same to play it in Qatar."

Sepp, that WC is 8 years away. Not too late to fix that mistake.

The 78-year-old also shot down suggestions that Qatar had "bought" the World Cup.
"No, I have never said it was bought, but that it was due to political considerations," he said.

He's running for re-election and his only competition will be Platini.
Platini voted for Qatar, but Sepp didn't vote as the President. I think this is a way of putting the mistake on Platini and helping his re-election.

At their next meeting they are going to take up stripping that WC, correct? What are the chances this actually happens?

I can see this. They will claim its because the hot weather. If it does change the countries that put in bids were US, South Korea, Japan, and Australia. In the voting earlier the US had second the amount of votes then RoK, Japan, then Australia.

no chance in hell they're going to change it...especially if any sort of stadium building etc has started in Qatar.

Its going to be a disaster as well. Other than the big one in Moscow, only one stadium can really meet WC standards right now. They need to build all new ones that need to have certain capacity standards to host WC games. Even Spartak and CSKA can't even fill the one the new proposed ones each club will need to build to host WC games.
Some interesting stuff out there to read up on.

It's time to start holding the tourney in the best stadiums and countries that can run it.
germany
usa
england
italy
aussie
canada
france
spain ,etc
no more of this 3rd world nation bullsheyat. Put it where it can be treated like king. South Africa was another shite hole, it's turning into an armpit, they had to keep the teams under lock and key, in armed villas, houses, resorts, etc.
enough, this isn't a FA cup tourney, it's the world cup, treat it like it is.

I don't remeber any controversy when S. Korea hosted. I think Japan, and maybe China, would have the ability to host a solid WC. I would make that list:
Asia- Japan, ROK, China*, Australia
Europe-Pretty much all but the eastern bloc
NA-US, Canada, Mex
SA-Brazil* (if they mess this up then they shouldn't get to host for a very long time) Arg, Urugay, Chile
Africa- Not for a very long time

Japan, china are great choices.

Japan and Sourh Korea are, but not China. The pollution in the major cities is absurd. The infrastructure still lacks that of an OECD.
I think the best choices are the USA, Canada, lots of options in Western Europe, Australia, Japan, and South Korea.

South Africa wasn't that bad and the stadiums have not gone to waste. Its pretty much the only stable country with the infrastructure to hold. Everyone I know who went said nothing but good things.

Sepp Blatter. For the love of God, retire.
A fifth term could be another disaster.

If he gets another term it will mean he gets to oversee another WC host selection.
