Manchester United move? with De gea + cash going other way?
If your going to make the move, and you can still get a ton of cash for him, this might be the time. Age 30, he has a ton of wear on the legs, get max value.

I really do think the guy is a couple of seasons from a huge drop-off. He relies so much in his athleticism. Smart move for Real Madrid. Albert Pujols level bad for United likely.

isn´t that a baseball player?

He is so much more than an athletic specimen. He is one of the most intelligent players in the game and has almost unparalleled off ball movement.

Perhaps. But people forget that CR7 looked horrible when he was struggling through knee pain. Knees are tricky. They can't always just be fixed. Bad knees end lots of athletic careers. He could still be a good player, but his pace on the wing is a huge part of his game.

Yup. One who the Angels paid record amounts for when he was on the wrong side of 30.

Not to mention, he is always capable of turning it on and making something happen. Look at the World Cup match against Portugal for a prime example. Dying moments in a desperate last push, dude just drives the ball in that not even Wondo could have shanked. I don't think he's going to drop off as much as people think. Has everyone forgotten his insane production just this season, especially early on? He won the Ballon D'Or while being nursing injuries he's had for what seems like forever. Sure, he's having parties and punching people right now, but he'll be terrifying for the foreseeable future.

I still think he will be a great player, but he won't be worth breaking the transfer record for. But United will do it. They love him too much.

I think he gets looked at unfairly because he followed Portugal's golden generation, and people expect him to win internationally with a team that really isn't that good.

Definitely a good point there. Gareth Bale gets less heat because Wales can never qualify for the World Cup.

I bet the Anaheim Angels or Brooklyn Nets will try to sign him.

I think he heard you, SwaggerCopter. Not going to lie, I'd love to see this in a United shirt again.

That was so nasty. He should come back to United, and then Bale should follow his example by coming back to Spurs.

I'm insanely biased because of my undying love for CR7, but I honestly believe he still has at a few years of elite talent in him, barring injury. I'd love to see him back at United.

his athleticism will fall, but he can just move to a CAM/CF role like lots of wingers do when they lose their burst
he's not worth the transfer record, though

It's possible. Can't let him get away without knowing if he'd ever be interested in a return. I say you guys should continue with small pursuits just to test the water for the future. You know, just toss out a line and see if he bites.

I agree. Can't set a record transfer for a 30 year old, no matter how much of a freak he is. I guess right now Pogba is the one guy worth breaking Bale's fee.
ETA: Messi, of course seeing that he is only 27.
